Business Opportunity!
The consumer bankruptcy practice of Akin, Webster & Matson, P.C. is winding down. In December, Danny L. Akin will be retiring and Joy Webster will not be taking any new consumer cases. Until then, we are having to redirect potential clients every day. Our office space is quite reasonably priced and an enterprising young attorney or attorneys could easily build a reasonable practice by taking over our offices and accepting our referrals. If you are interested in such an opportunity, please contact Danny L. Akin or Joy R. Webster at 478-742-1889 or send us an email at [email protected].

Please join the Macon Bar Association as we congratulate our esteemed colleague Honorable Howard Z. Simms.

Judge Simms, our Macon Judicial Circuit, Chief Superior Court Judge has been a superior court judge since 2011. He announced his official retirement on May 4, 2023 and intends to retire effective September 1, 2023. While we are saddened to see Judge Simms leave the bench after 37 years of public service (with over 20 years as a prosecutor), he has requested an appointment to Senior Judge status to “assist his fellow judges in doing their best to relieve the backlog that was created by the pandemic shutdowns.” In his official announcement, Judge Simms notes that he has had the privilege of working with “colleagues that [he] regards as some of the finest jurists in the state.”

Over the next few weeks and months, please join us in letting Judge Simms know how much we appreciate his dedication, perseverance, and commitment to the bench and our profession. We wish you the best as you prepare for your next endeavor. Godspeed sir!
