The results of the 2020 Presidential election will have an enormous impact on the rights of immigrants and their families. To the many people I've consulted with over the years who have asked what can be done for a seemingly hopeless immigration case, my answer has been that it depends on the 2020 election. That time is now here.

Those of you who are not yet citizens of the United States, of course, cannot vote or register to vote. However, you can still exercise your influence by urging the U.S. citizens closest to you to vote and reminding them of the huge impact that this election will have on the rights of immigrants, no matter where in the process they might be.

And for those of you who are U.S. citizens, I want to remind you of the importance of voting early wherever possible. Nobody will benefit from a prolonged period of uncertainty while late votes are counted and litigated against. The time to exercise the one right you have that can affect the lives of your immigrant family members is now here. Do not fall into the trap of thinking that your state's outcome is already settled or that your vote otherwise doesn't count, and don't let delay put your vote into danger.

Additionally, everyone can make a difference by doing what I'm doing here. Reach out to your circle wherever that might be and urge them: vote, vote early, vote now.

For anyone who is unsure which candidate will best represent the interests of immigrant families, I will be more than happy to share my views privately if you reach out.
