Introducing the 2026 Nebraska Journal on Advancing Justice Editorial Board! ⚖️

Kala Mueller joined the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2015 as the Associate Director of Career Services. She received her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2005 and her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2009. While in law school, Kala was involved with the Wisconsin Journal of Law, Gender & Society, first as a member of its writing program, which resulted in publication of her article on China’s population control policy, and later as a senior editor. She also worked with a clinical program serving prison inmates and the Dane County District Attorney’s Office in Madison, Wisconsin. Following law school, Kala worked as a prosecutor in central Wisconsin for over 3 years before joining a private practice where she practiced primarily in the area of personal injury defense. She is happy to be back in Lincoln with her husband and three children.

Introducing the 2026 Nebraska Journal on Advancing Justice Editorial Board! ⚖️

Professor Stefanie Pearlman is an Associate Dean, a professor of law library, and reference librarian. She teaches legal research in the First Year Legal Analysis, Writing, and Research course. She is a faculty editor of the Nebraska Journal on Advancing Justice and runs the Schmid Research Fellowship Program. Professor Pearlman is active in the American Association of Law Libraries and the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries. She is also a Commissioner on the Nebraska Access to Justice Commission.

Professor Danielle C. Jefferis is the Faculty Editor-in-Chief of NJAJ and an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Nebraska College of Law (), where she teaches Civil Procedure, Civil Rights Litigation, Prison Law, and Race and the Law. Her research examines constitutional and civil rights law, federal courts, and the law and policy of prison and detention.

Introducing the 2026 Nebraska Journal on Advancing Justice Editorial Board! ⚖️

Andrew Dominguez Farias is the Communications Editor for the Nebraska Journal on Advancing Justice, after joining as an Articles Editor in Fall 2025. He graduated as a Posse Scholar from Carleton College with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and political science/international relations. Prior to attending the University of Nebraska College of Law, he worked as a community organizer and lobbyist advocating for marginalized communities in Lincoln. Ultimately, Andrew is dedicated to advancing justice through policies that uplift and empower the next generation of Nebraskans. Outside of class, Andrew enjoys volunteering on several nonprofit boards, baking sweet treats, putting together botanical LEGO sets, and spending time with his toothless pup, Spanky.
