Las Vegas! This is one of the best weekends of the fall. Here's what's actually happening across the Valley:
(October 4 - October 10)
๐จ The Summerlin Festival of Arts turns 30. Friday, October 9 through Sunday, October 11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on The Lawn at Downtown Summerlin, with work from more than 100 juried fine artists from across the country.
๐ Staying for dinner? The Parade of Mischief. Downtown Summerlin's annual Halloween street parade rolls down Park Centre Drive Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. Heads up: it overlaps with the arts festival, so expect bigger crowds that weekend.
โ๏ธ Sunset Park turns into a 16th-century English village for the Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival, Oct. 9โ11. There will be full-contact jousting, pirate games, blacksmithing and archery demos, and more than 100 artisans. Kids 5 and under get in free, and parking is limited, so go early.
๐ฅ Over in Henderson, the 17th Annual Aki Matsuri Japanese Festival takes over Water Street Plaza Saturday, October 10, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. It's free, with authentic Japanese food, live performances, and kids' activities, plus free parking in the Water Street garage right across the street.
Eleven years helping people put down roots here, and weekends like this are still why I love this Valley.
