The increased pay rate for lawyers assigned to represent indigent clients in New York state has had a mixed impact in the region since taking effect in April.

I have closed the Camp Mohawk Plaza location as of October 2023. I am limiting intake of new clients and cases due to the time demands of my position as an Assistant Public Defender in Montgomery County, assigned to Family Court.

I am reopening my Montgomery County satellite location, at Camp Mohawk Plaza in Fonda, New York near the Montgomery County courthouse. This satellite office will be open by appointment only. Due to the time demands of my current position as an Assistant Public Defender in Montgomery County, assigned to Family Court, I will only be accepting a limited number of privately retained cases.

It's the end of May, and I thought I would be reopening my office to in-person appointments by this time, but right now I do not know when/if I am going to do that. If you need to contact me, please call or email (email is preferable: [email protected]). Do not just show up at my door. Thank you.

I just had to post this on my front door. Please, do not stop by without an appointment and then get indignant when no one comes to the door. Call or email first.

I will be continuing my "pause" on new client consultations for at least another week while I catch up on my backlog of work for existing clients. However, there is also good news ahead! My office has been physically closed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but I am scheduled for my second vaccine shot in April, so I anticipate reopening the office for client meetings on at least a limited basis by May. I will probably limit this to one person at a time for awhile before I begin meeting with clients and witnesses in larger groups. For now, I anticipate that multi-party meetings will continue to be through Zoom, Skype, or Microsoft Teams.

03/06/2021

I am putting a two-week hold on any initial consultations with prospective clients, so that I can concentrate on getting caught up with my backlog of paperwork. I hope to make enough progress in the next two weeks to be able to resume initial consultations. My outstanding obligations to complete work for existing clients must come first.
