We’ve been using AI as a design inspiration tool when putting together our Airbnb spaces, and it has been incredibly helpful.

Instead of guessing how a room might come together, we can take a photo of the actual space and use AI to visualize different ways to style it, including bedding, artwork, rugs, lighting, furniture placement, plants, and finishing touches.

The goal isn’t to create a fake version of the property. It’s to help us see the potential of the room before spending money or moving everything around.

AI gives us a visual roadmap. Then we can take those ideas, make practical choices, stay within budget, and create a space that feels warm, intentional, and welcoming for guests.

For Airbnb hosts, I think this is one of the smartest ways to use AI: not to replace creativity, but to help bring the vision to life.

Whenever we travel, we almost always choose to stay in another Airbnb. 🏡✈️

Why? Because there is SO much to learn when you experience a property from the guest’s side instead of the host’s.

As hosts, we can get used to our own systems, our own properties, and the way we think things “should” work. But staying somewhere else gives us a completely different perspective.

We notice the little things:

✨ Was check-in easy and intuitive?
✨ Were the instructions clear?
✨ Did the home feel welcoming the moment we walked in?
✨ Was the bed actually comfortable?
✨ Were there enough outlets, towels, hooks, lighting and places to put our things?
✨ What amenities made us say, “We need to do this at our properties”?
✨ And sometimes, what made us think, “We definitely DON’T want to do that!”

Some of our best ideas for improving the guest experience have come simply from being guests ourselves.

Traveling reminds us that successful short-term rental hosting isn’t just about providing a place to sleep. It’s about thinking through the entire experience from arrival to checkout.
