"Had major reconstruction to our house in 2018. The contractors doing the work left tons unfinished and went MIA for 10 straight days. During this time, I called LegalShield. After reviewing my nearly $40,000 contract and doing some homework, they informed me that my contractors didn't have a North Carolina contractors license. I asked what that meant and they told me that in NC a contractors license was not required unless the job was more than $30,000, which ours was. So, again, I asked what that meant? They informed me it meant our contract with the contractors was NULL and VOID! Once again I asked, ‘what's that mean’? They said it means we don't have to pay them any money and the contractors can't even come after me for it legally. WHAT!? I had a $40,000 check from the insurance company in my hands which ended up in MY pocket for me to use/spend/distribute as I saw fit. Wow.
