Property tax season is here - and you might be overpaying without even realizing it.
Even if you aren't sure if your home’s assessed value feels too high, you have the right to protest it and potentially lower your tax bill.
The deadline to file your request for protest is May 15, so timing matters.
Reducing your Assessed Value saves you money on taxes - it does not lower your market value. Lower property taxes actually makes your property more appealing and more affordable to potential buyers.
Your Homestead Exemption sets a cap on how much they can increase your Assessed Value each year. Regularly protesting your taxes keeps that value and the cap even lower.
The good news? You don’t have to do it alone. There are companies that specialize in property tax protests, and they only get paid if they successfully reduce your taxes. Their fee is typically 20–30% of whatever they save you - so there’s very little risk on your end.
If you’ve been putting it off or aren’t sure where to start, I can point you in the right direction with trusted resources.
Don’t leave money on the table! Take a few minutes to see if you can lower your tax bill this year.
