My good friend Guy Bily is opening up his own firm, and their new website is live. Looks sharp, and Guy is a guy I’d trust with my own family’s needs!

Creating custom-tailored estate plans for clients is our purpose.Guy Bily and William Harlow have a passion for ensuring that their client’s estate plan perfectly effects their wishes. Sadly, most people do not have any estate planning done, and if they do, it is typically inadequate. Having a pro...

Happy to be part of such a solid team!

There’s a new issue this week from the best literary journal on the internet, The Wrath-Bearing Tree. Years ago, I had the honor of joining some fellow combat vets in pursuit of a grand vision of a literary journal that provided an outlet for writers and artists to share their voices through literature and art that doesn’t quite fit in elsewhere, thoughtful and compassionate work that confronts violence and trauma in all its forms. After seven amazing years building the most impressive literary community on the internet (publishing a new issue every single month!!!), we formed as a nonprofit. And with the awesome help of the amazing attorney Bella Truong, Esq., a colleague of mine at Parlatore Law Group, we filed for tax-exempt 501(c)3 status to allow us to grow, gain eligibility for grants, and accept donations to continue expanding and compensate our contributors. Thanks to all of you writers, readers, and especially my fellow editors and board members, Andria Williams (editor in chief), Amalie Flynn, Drew Pham, Mary Doyle, Lauren Kay Johnson, Adrian Bonenberger, Jennifer Orth-Veillon, Mike Carson, Ben LeRoy, David James, and Eric Robinson. We’re all looking forward to our best year yet in 2022, beginning with this year’s first issue. Check it out here! www.wrath-bearingtree.com

Finally a take on this tragedy that’s worth the ink.

Telling Alec Baldwin ‘it was just an accident’ won't help him deal with his guilt and despair. But there are steps he can take to find some peace.

When I lived in Madison and attended the University of Wisconsin Law School, Judge Mitchell was an influential speaker in our clinical programs and student organizations more than once, and highly regarded in the bar as one of the good ones. This kind of humanity in our justice system is so refreshing.

Charles Green first saw a chessboard more than 40 years ago at Franklin Elementary School in Madison, Wisconsin. “I saw two kids playing. I remember to this day, because I was a checker player, but I seen the chess and it intrigued me,” he says. “I was like, what the heck is this? And from tha...

Update on the case regarding Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller 🇺🇸

Accountability won in court today. The military judge wisely recognized that Lt. Col. Scheller issued a sincere call for accountability.

He also recognized that Scheller held himself accountable. He recognized that caring for lost Marines isn’t criminal. It’s expected.

The judge rejected prosecutor’s request for a stiff sentence. He opted for a reprimand and a one month forfeiture of pay.

The judge also called for investigation into possible government misconduct. This was a huge win for all those who stood up for justice. ⚖️

The SecNav can grant an honorable or general discharge. The judge’s findings send a strong message for an honorable discharge.

The Marine who faces a court-martial for his criticism of the Afghanistan withdrawal will plead guilty to some of the charges, his lawyer said Tuesday.
