First day back at work. Starting with half days because that is as much as I can handle. Trying to catch up on stuff we got behind on because of the accident.

I am home, but not really functional, yet. i have been told six weeks to 2 months to full recovery. I am asking Molly (the attorney who works with us) to reach out for emergencies.

My family got rear-ended on the way to A&M to let Flint stop fighting and send him over the Rainbow Bridge Friday. I ended up in the ICU with 10 broken ribs, a spinal fracture, and some internal bleeding. Ryan will be rescheduling folks, but please be patient. In addition to being my assistant she is a dear friend of the family and has been helping the kids and Bryan Shelton.

For folks who aren't on my personal page, we are still looking for a home for the pittie we found in September. When we found him, someone had burned his belly and cut him up with maybe a box knife. Took him to my vet, got him healed, got him neutered and all of his shots. He was full of love but had terrible manners, so we sent him to training. He is now potty trained and has basic obedience training. He is great with people, wonderful with female dogs, and okay in cats (very interested in them and likes to chase them, but has not tried to hurt one of our 7). However, he does not get along at all with our male dog. He is back in training because of it and is doing okay with male dogs at his trainer's, but probably needs to be in a house with no other male dogs, just to be on the safe side. If you know anyone looking to add a lovebug to their home, please send them my way.

Tonight at 9, my client will be talking with Randy Wallace about her 98 day fight to save her dog's life. We saved his life and the dog bite victim gets peace of mind. It was a win-win solution from a judge who was looking for a fair solution. Not every day as a lawyer is a happy day, but today was!

Im gonna try that 😆

For anyone following Jack's story, we got the judge's final order- Jack is saved! He did get a dangerous dog designation, but we walked into court anticipating that possibility. I believe the judge made a very balanced decision that lets a good dog come home to his family, while still protecting public safety. I am very happy with the outcome and can't wait for Jack to be back home with his family!

After tons of research, I prepped for hours and hours Sunday. I was ready for everything the other side had and I think I was respectful, while still presenting the reasons the law is on our side. The judge took it under advisement, we should have our verdict tomorrow, and I am so exhausted that I should sleep hard tonight, but I don't know if I will be able to.

We are working very hard to save Hatchi and Jack. If you are one of the people who is threatening or harassing the court or the prosecutor in one of these cases, you need to STOP. Abusing and scaring people is NOT going to help these dogs. Do you respond positively to threats, being called names, or harassment? Of course you don't. Why would you think that judges, prosecutors, or their staff would respond positively to that same behavior?

When I walk into these hearings to represent these dogs, I don't want to have to start out by apologizing to the judge, their staff, or the prosecutor for any more threats or harassment. I don't want to have to spend time explaining how my clients do not endorse the abusive, racist, and threatening language some people have used. Please work with me to let me present the best, most professional case for these dogs possible.

We're the law firm working hard to save the lives of Hatchi and Jack. I love the outpouring of public support for these pups. However, I need to make it clear that contacting the courts is not helpful. A judge cannot ethically consider an ex-parte communication. They have to decide the case based on the evidence before them in court.

I understand the urge to contact the prosecutors, but I talked to the prosecutors in both cases. They are folks who believe they are working to protect public safety. I think they are wrong, but reasonable people can disgree, even about an issue as emotional as this one. I have legal arguments in both cases that I think are persuasive. We're set for hearings in both cases, and I hope the judges see things our way. If they don't, we can appeal that decision.

What I'm tryin to say is that the legal system is working like it is supposed to, there has been no unnecessary delay in either case, and there is no reason to believe that the judges have any kind of bias or malice towards my clients or their dogs. So, let's allow the legal system to work.

For my LGBTQ+ clients- the Supreme Court refused to reconsider marriage equality. We can all breathe a sigh of relief for now.
