🎤 Who holds the mic in virtual meetings?
🔇 In a survey of over 1,100 working professionals, 45 percent of women (ALMOST HALF!) said it’s difficult to SPEAK UP in virtual meetings.
😞 20 percent said they’ve felt ignored or overlooked by colleagues during video calls.
📍I appreciate the ease, accessibility, and privilege of virtual meetings. And, I am interested in how we can make them more creative, fluid, and equitable in terms of who is holding the mic.
♾ A 2022 study in the Journal of Applied Psychology found that, “employees who learn to speak with confidence and clarity will be more likely to be seen as leaders when working in teams. In turn, they’ll have more opportunities to make a positive difference on their team and organization — and to advance their own career.”
