Associate Alyssa G. Gregory breaks down important changes coming to the U.S. Tax Court in her latest blog post.

The U.S. Tax Court recently announced three key updates to its trial sessions administration: it has expanded its places of trial from 74 to 79 citiesβ€”adding Austin, Charlotte, Newark, Orlando, and Sacramentoβ€”eliminated the practice of reserving certain locations exclusively for small tax cases, and introduced new "reporting calendars" beginning in the Fall 2027 term.

In her post, Alyssa explains the implications of these Tax Court changes for taxpayers’ discovery disputes and subpoenas.

When a $3 billion tax asset is on the line, the clock matters. In his latest post, Shareholder Mark Sherrill breaks down the bankruptcy filing of several LIV Golf entities and the high-stakes restructuring now underway.

After Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund stopped funding the league, LIV Golf entered a restructuring support agreement with BC Partners, one that would bring in new investors, convert player claims into equity, and preserve roughly $3 billion in net operating losses. But with its bankruptcy financing setting a tight deadline to finalize the deal, the league is racing against the clock.

Mark unpacks why the players hold the key, how the NOLs could be preserved, and what has to happen next.

Last Tuesday, we teamed up with Thomson Reuters to host an afternoon built around one question: what does it actually take to move AI from experiment to everyday practice?

Attorneys from our litigation, corporate, and IP teams joined peers from other midsize firms to dig into what's new in legal AI and how CoCounsel fits into real workflows. Chief Innovation Officer and Chair, Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group Aly Dossa joined the peer panel to share how we've adopted and implemented AI across the firm, the real wins and the honest challenges alike.

One theme came through clearly: AI is no longer a pilot or a nice-to-have; it's a must-have. Most firms now have policies on paper, but few have made AI use a genuine core competency, and that's exactly the gap. The firms furthest along pair broad access with real governance: disclosure and verification built into the workflow, partner review of AI-assisted work, and informed-consent language in engagement letters. They've also learned that locking access down doesn't reduce risk, but just drives shadow AI.

A special thanks to Margaret Bartlett, our Director of Knowledge and Research, who conceived and championed this event, and to Thomson Reuters and everyone who showed up ready to trade real experience. The firms that treat AI as an expectation of the job, not an exception, are the ones setting the pace.

Co-Chairs of our Product Liability Practice Group, Bardia Sergent and Brandon D. Cox, along with Associate Matt J. Morton, have been featured in Law360.

Their article examines a growing wave of consumer class actions targeting products marketed to specific audiences, like infants, that share formulations with lower-priced, general-use versions. Recent California decisions suggest audience-specific packaging and imagery alone may imply a product was "specially formulated," even without an express comparative claim.

For companies with segmented product lines, the question is whether the overall marketing communicates a product distinction that actually exists. Bardia, Brandon, and Matt offer practical guidance on getting ahead of it.
