Most people think cross-examination is about catching you in a lie.
It’s not.

It’s about getting you to agree to something small…
that quietly weakens your entire case.

After 15+ years in the courtroom, I can tell you…
you’re not losing control in the big moments.
You’re losing it in the subtle ones.

Here’s what that looks like in real time:
👉🏾 You try to “explain” instead of answering the question.
👉🏾 You volunteer extra details that weren’t asked.
👉🏾 You agree to something “just to move things along.”
👉🏾 You assume the judge understands your intent—without you saying it clearly.

And that’s exactly where the other side steps in.

Because once you’ve said it, they don’t need to argue.
They’ll use your own words to build their case.

The goal isn’t to get you to lie.
It’s to get you to overtalk, overshare, or agree too quickly.

That’s the trap.

The strongest witnesses aren’t the most emotional or the most detailed—
they’re the most controlled.

They listen carefully.
They answer only what’s asked.
And they stop.

If you’re stepping into a courtroom, this isn’t something you want to “figure out in the moment.”

At Mokolo Law, we don’t just represent you, we prepare you.

You don’t get approved because your case is strong.

You get approved because your case is properly documented.

And those are two very different things.

A “good” case can still get denied.

Not because you didn’t qualify—
but because you didn’t prove it the right way.

Immigration isn’t just about eligibility.
It’s about evidence, structure, and how your story is presented on paper.

I’ve seen strong cases fall apart because:
• Documents were submitted, but didn’t clearly connect to the legal requirement
• Evidence was there, but not organized in a way an officer could easily follow
• People assumed “this should be obvious” instead of spelling it out
• Timelines didn’t align, and no one explained the gaps
• Forms were technically correct, but inconsistent with supporting documents

Here’s the part most people miss:
Immigration officers are not filling in the gaps for you.

If something is unclear, inconsistent, or poorly presented, they move on.

And that’s how avoidable denials happen.

This is why strategy matters just as much as eligibility.

Because the difference between an approval and a denial often comes down to how well your case is built, not just whether you qualify.

This isn’t something you want to “figure out as you go.” If you want experienced representation that knows how to position your case for success, reach out to Mokolo Law.

Most people don’t lose custody because they’re bad parents…

They lose because of the mistakes they make during the case.

After 15+ years in family law, I’ve seen strong cases fall apart over things that could have been avoided.

Here are a few that get used against you… every single time:

• Speaking negatively about the other parent (especially in texts or in front of your child)
• Ignoring court orders or “bending” them when it feels justified
• Letting emotions control your communication
• Posting online without thinking it through
• Trying to “win” against your ex instead of focusing on your child

Everything you say, do, and post can become evidence.

And once it’s in front of a judge, intent doesn’t matter nearly as much as impact.

This isn’t about being perfect.

It’s about being strategic.

The way you handle this phase can directly impact your relationship with your child long-term.

If you want guidance on how to protect your position and avoid costly mistakes, reach out to Mokolo Law.

We’re here to help you move through this with clarity and confidence.

He was brought to the U.S. as a baby by a parent.

One parent was deported.
The other parent disappeared.

By the time he came to us, he was facing removal proceedings as a child, living with his grandmother—who herself had no legal status.

This wasn’t just an immigration case. It was survival.

We stepped in and filed a custody case in family court to protect him and legally establish who could care for him.

Based on those findings, we were then able to file for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)—a pathway designed to protect children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected.

Today, that little boy has a path to a green card and a future that doesn’t involve fear of deportation.

This is what happens when family law and immigration law work together.
This is why children deserve advocates.
This is why I do what I do.
