FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -February 22, 2025
Delaware County Democratic Party Endorses Slate of 2025 Candidates

Media, PA - Today, over 600 Democratic Party committee members gathered in the City of Chester to nominate and endorse candidates for County Council, Controller, Sheriff, Register of Wills, and Common Pleas Court Judge. After a series of energetic nominations and speeches, the convention resoundingly endorsed the following slate of candidates:

CP Court Judge: Mike Power (Thornbury) & Jack Stollsteimer (Haverford)
County Council: Richard Womack (Darby Twp.) & Joanne Phillips (Middletown)
Sheriff: Siddiq Kamara (Lansdowne)
Controller: Louis Rosenthal (Newtown)
Register of Wills: Vincent Rongione (Upper Darby)

Chairwoman Colleen Guiney thanked all the assembled party members and especially the strong group of office seekers who did not prevail saying, โ€œIt is truly energizing to see so many motivated people in this room and I am very thankful to all those brave enough to put their name forward to run for office. We have built a tremendous track record of running strong, principled, and winning campaigns and I am confident that this slate will do just that.โ€

Attorney Michael Power was visibly moved by the moment saying, "It is such an honor to receive this endorsement. In these trying times we see the vital role that judges play in protecting the rights and property of our residents and I promise to bring an even temperament and a genuine sense of fairness to the bench. I will never forget the values Iโ€™ve gained from representing every-day people with every-day problems. These values will guide me as a judge."

District Attorney Stollsteimer added, โ€œI want to thank the Delco Democrats for their endorsement and I look forward to continuing my service to our community as a Judge of the Common Pleas next year.โ€

County Council Vice Chair Richard Womack was enthusiastically re-endorsed for a second term by an overwhelming voice vote and thanked those assembled for their continued faith and confidence, saying, โ€œIโ€™ve fought for working people all my life and that is exactly what I will continue to do. Regular people are getting left behind and I canโ€™t thank you all enough for giving me the opportunity to stand up for them every single day.โ€

Controller Joanne Phillips prevailed from a strong four candidate field to earn the nomination and endorsement for the second County Council seat. โ€œI want to thank Colleen and the entire Delaware County Democratic Committee for this endorsement. I will campaign hard in every corner of the County to win this seat and fight for everyone. Together, we have made great progress and I look forward to adding my experience and expertise to the Council to keep Delaware County a great place to live, work, raise a family and grow your business."

U.S. Army Veteran & Former Special Agent with the Attorney Generalโ€™s office Kamara added, โ€œThank you to the Delco Dems and everyone who believes in our community and this shared mission. Your trust and support means so much to me personally as we continue working toward a safer, stronger, and more just Delco. Letโ€™s keep pushing forward, TOGETHER.โ€

Financial Services Executive Louis Rosenthal echoed the tone of the day adding, โ€œI am honored to receive this endorsement especially alongside an outstanding slate of candidates committed to serving our community. This team has a shared commitment to serving our community with integrity, experience, and results-driven leadership. Throughout my career in financial services and public service, I have demonstrated a steadfast dedication to ethical decision-making, fiscal responsibility, and ensuring that our government works effectively for all.โ€

Register of Wills Vince Rongione punctuated the event with this passionate commitment, โ€œI am so honored by your support and you have my absolute pledge that no one will work harder everyday to prove that our government can and should be a force for good in peopleโ€™s lives. The opportunity to serve our residents and help people every day is a great privilege and I wonโ€™t let you down.โ€

Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon was in attendance to update the party members on the latest developments in Washington and show support for the County ticket. As was Judge Brandon Neuman from Washington County, himself a candidate for Superior Court, who was there to represent the Statewide Judicial candidates and underline the importance of judicial retention especially at the Supreme Court level.
