**Elections have consequences.**

It is easy to ignore what is happening when you think it does not affect you.

But when U.S. citizens and people with lawful immigration status are being caught up in immigration enforcement actions, and enforcement is reaching schools, hospitals, airports, and other places that people should be able to access without fear, this should concern ALL of us.

Today it may be someone else. Tomorrow, it may be you, your child, your neighbor, your employee, or someone you love.

We cannot wait until something affects us personally before we care about what is happening to others.

**Elections have consequences. Voting matters.**

**Las elecciones tienen consecuencias.**

Es fácil ignorar lo que está pasando cuando uno piensa que no le afecta.

Pero cuando ciudadanos estadounidenses y personas con estatus migratorio legal están siendo detenidos durante operativos de inmigración, y estos operativos están llegando a escuelas, hospitales, aeropuertos y otros lugares a los que las personas deberían poder acudir sin miedo, esto debería preocuparnos a TODOS.

Hoy puede ser otra persona. Mañana puedes ser tú, tu hijo, tu vecino, tu empleado o alguien que amas.

No podemos esperar hasta que algo nos afecte personalmente para preocuparnos por lo que les está pasando a los demás.

Be VERY mindful before you decide to file an Asylum Application, especially one prepared by these notarios who come to your house and fill out applications.

I have come across many clients who filed these applications without understanding the consequences and ended up ruining their chances of being eligible for another legitimate immigration program.

USCIS is now issuing Notices to Appear (NTAs) to many affirmative asylum applicants and sending them to Immigration Court, sometimes WITHOUT even adjudicating the asylum application first.

And THIS is what is currently happening with asylum cases in Immigration Court:

In June 2026, 94.1% of the asylum cases decided by Immigration Judges were DENIED. Only 771 individuals were granted asylum.

Filing an Asylum Application is NOT something you should do simply because someone tells you it will get you a work permit. You need to understand what you are filing, whether you actually qualify, and the very serious consequences that can follow.

Me he encontrado con muchos clientes que presentaron estas solicitudes sin entender las consecuencias y terminaron arruinando sus posibilidades de ser elegibles para otro programa de inmigración legítimo.

Y ESTO es lo que está sucediendo actualmente con los casos de asilo en la Corte de Inmigración:

**En junio de 2026, el 94.1% de los casos de asilo decididos por los Jueces de Inmigración fueron DENEGADOS. Solo 771 personas obtuvieron asilo.**

Presentar una Solicitud de Asilo NO es algo que debe hacer simplemente porque alguien le diga que así podrá obtener un permiso de trabajo. Debe entender qué está presentando, si realmente califica y las consecuencias muy serias que pueden resultar.

CONSULATE INTERVIEW CANCELATIONS!!

As most of you probably know by now, DOS suddenly cancelled many immigrant visa interviews, with no warning and initially no clear explanation as to why.

Now we are hearing that the cancellations are apparently so consular officers can undergo additional training on **public charge**.

This is just crazy and incredibly unfair. Some people had already left the U.S. for their interviews and are now stuck outside the country, not knowing when interviews will resume.

And the other big concern is that we really don't know yet how DOS is going to apply public charge after this training. There is still so much uncertainty about what this will actually mean for immigrant visa applicants.

Unfortunately, as unfair as it is, this is where we are right now. 😩

This is why it is really important that U.S. citizens register to vote and exercise their right to vote if they are troubled by this type of unfair treatment of people.

Matter of Arrabally and Yerrabelly has been OVERRULED!!!!!!!!!!!

This means DACA and TPS holders who accumulated unlawful presence before obtaining DACA or TPS may no longer be able to file for Adjustment of Status based on a parole entry if they do not have a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouse or parent who can serve as a qualifying relative for an unlawful presence waiver.

IMPORTANT: This new rule applies prospectively. Travel that occurred BEFORE 08/13/2026 remains protected under the prior rule. Applicants who already traveled before today can generally proceed as before.

This is another example of why it is NEVER a good idea to wait to apply for an immigration benefit that is available to you now. Immigration law does not stay the same. Things can suddenly become much more complicated and expensive, regardless of which administration is in office. Some very important immigration rules depend on case law, and as we saw today, longstanding case law can be overturned.
