A major Fort Worth affordable housing update just dropped: a $2 million grant is helping deliver a new supportive housing project for residents facing chronic homelessness in Tarrant County.

The project is Journey Home Housing at Crowley Road, led by Presbyterian Night Shelter, and the release says it includes 96 housing units.

How the funding works: this is an Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas), awarded through member bank Texas Capital.

Why this matters locally (beyond one headline):
• Adds supportive housing inventory in Fort Worth
• Targets residents experiencing chronic homelessness in Tarrant County
• Shows continued use of regional/public-private financing tools to expand housing access in North Texas

Bigger context: FHLB Dallas reported broader AHP activity in the region, including large annual grant totals tied to thousands of housing units, which helps explain why these announcements are showing up more often across Texas metros.

Keller Sports Park renovation update: the project is now in the final stretch, and this is one of the bigger parks/sports infrastructure stories in Northeast Tarrant County right now.

Here are the key numbers/details:
• Total renovation investment: about $40.8 million
• Project area: nearly 200 acres
• Core upgrades: 12 renovated baseball + softball fields
• Expanded program areas: soccer, lacrosse, rugby, and equestrian
• Additional features reported: Miracle League Field, turf infields, splash pad, and internal roadway improvements

Timeline context:
• Planning started in 2021 with a city task force; recommendations followed in March 2022.
• City updates in January said all but five fields were done, with broader unveil activity expected this spring.
• City staff called this the first major work at the park since 2004.

Why this matters for locals:
• Better youth sports/tournament capacity in Keller
• Likely weekend traffic pattern changes around game days
• More family activity demand around nearby neighborhoods and retail corridors

Dallas Love Field is entering a major new chapter.

The airport’s 2025 Master Plan includes the Love Field Expansion Airport Program (LEAP), with early coverage centering on an $800 million phase and timing that points to design in 2026 and construction in 2027.

Why this matters for Dallas travelers:
• Love Field currently handles around 10 million annual boardings and has demand pressure beyond what the original setup was designed for.
• The master-plan vision is to improve passenger flow, terminal function, and long-term capacity while keeping operations efficient.

What’s being discussed in planning documents/coverage:
• New terminal headhouse concept
• Wider concourse footprint
• Additional parking + remote parking concepts
• Consolidated rental-car direction
• Curbside/access road improvements
• Utility/support facility upgrades

Big headline to track: some local reports say the full program could be around $2.5 billion, and up to $600 million could eventually support a gate expansion from 20 to 32 gates—but that part depends on future approvals and agreements.

If you search things like Dallas Love Field expansion, Dallas airport construction timeline, Love Field new gates, Dallas travel updates, or airport projects in DFW, this is one of the biggest infrastructure stories in the city right now.

Java House Grand Prix of Arlington is bringing IndyCar street racing to Arlington, Texas — and it’s happening March 13–15, 2026 in the Arlington Entertainment District.

This is a temporary street circuit built around the stadium corridor (aka the “stadium-to-stadium” vibe). The official event info describes a course that’s 2.73 miles, 14 turns, and designed for Indy cars to hit 180+ mph, running right by AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, and Choctaw Stadium.

Weekend flow (good to know if you’re planning your trip):
• Friday (Mar 13): gates + practice sessions
• Saturday (Mar 14): qualifying + on-track action
• Sunday (Mar 15): race day

Where it sits (so you can picture closures/traffic): the course is roughly bounded by E. Division St / Stadium Dr / Cowboys Way / N. Collins St, with Globe Life Field called out as a central fan zone area.

Entertainment add-on: it’s also a live music weekend—the event site says All Time Low kicks off Friday, and T-Pain with Disco Lines close out Sunday, and all tickets include general admission access to the concert.

Ticket pricing (as listed in coverage): three-day reserved starts $195, three-day GA starts $110, and kids 12 and under are listed as free with an adult weekend ticket; single-day GA starts $35 for Friday, Saturday reserved starts $80 (Saturday GA $50), and Sunday starts around $135 reserved / $90 GA (kids GA free with adult).

the Dallas Mavericks have narrowed the search for a new arena to two locations inside the City of Dallas—either downtown or the Valley View Center area in North Dallas.

Option 1: Downtown Dallas
There’s still discussion around where downtown could land, and one possibility mentioned in reporting is the land where Dallas City Hall sits. City leadership has said they’re still waiting on a building assessment and the cost/benefit of staying vs relocating city operations before anything like that could move forward.

Option 2: Valley View / North Dallas
The other location is the former Valley View Center area near Preston Road + Interstate 635. That site has been reported as roughly 110 acres, which is why this option gets framed as more than “just an arena” — it could support a larger sports/entertainment district concept.

Why this matters (beyond basketball):
A new arena location can reshape nearby traffic patterns, restaurants and retail, new mixed-use development, and even where people choose to live based on commute and event access (downtown Dallas vs North Dallas corridor).

Timeline watch:
The Mavericks’ lease at the American Airlines Center runs through 2031, and reporting says a decision on the new site is expected by July 1.

McKinney, Texas is officially getting a surf-and-resort style destination: Cannon Beach has broken ground near Stacy Road + State Highway 121 in Collin County.

This is a $200 million project planned on about 35 acres, and the headline feature is a 3-acre surf lagoon with a beach — not a typo… a beach-style surf lagoon in North Texas.

What’s planned (so you know what’s real vs rumors):
• Surf lagoon + beach (3 acres)
• Lazy river
• Mineral hot springs circuit
• Full-service resort hotel connected to the lagoon, with cabanas + lounge areas, plus event/wedding space
• Extra entertainment concepts mentioned: skate park, movie theater, bowling alley, health club, and indoor recreation

Timeline: the first phase is projected to open mid-2027 (phased opening).

Why it matters for DFW growth: the city’s release projects 700+ jobs, around 400,000 visitors annually, and $2B+ in economic impact over the next 20 years — which is a big deal for nearby development, traffic patterns on 121, and “things to do in McKinney” searches.

If you’re a first-time homebuyer in Dallas–Fort Worth (or just trying to stop renting), here’s a program a lot of people hear about but don’t understand: NACA.

NACA promotes its “Best in America Mortgage” with some headline benefits that are different from most traditional loans:
• No down payment
• No closing costs / no lender fees
• No mortgage insurance (no PMI)
• Below-market fixed interest rate

They also publish “current mortgage rates” on their official site. As of Jan 21, 2026, NACA lists 5.25% (30-year fixed), 4.75% (20-year fixed), 4.875% (15-year fixed) for priority members, and they show separate non-priority rates on the same page.

How the education/qualification process starts: step one is a free Homebuyer Workshop that’s about 4 hours and covers the program + the homebuying process + what you need to do to become “NACA Qualified.” After the workshop, you move into housing counseling and a documentation-heavy process focused on budget + affordability + payment history (NACA says “perfect credit isn’t required” and they evaluate payment history without the same credit-score approach traditional lenders use).

Important rules to know upfront (so you don’t waste time): NACA is for owner-occupied homes, and no one in the household can have an ownership interest in another property at closing; plus NACA has ongoing member participation requirements.

DFW isn’t just growing — it’s building more than anyone.

A new ranking using U.S. Census building permit data says Dallas–Fort Worth ranked #1 in the U.S. for total new residential units authorized in 2024: 71,788 permits. That total includes single-family homes, apartments, and condos, which matters because it impacts both homebuyers and renters across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.

How DFW compares:
• Houston: 65,747 permits (2nd)
• New York City: 57,929 permits (3rd)
• Austin: 32,294 (6th)
• San Antonio: 14,857 (20th)

They also looked at “how intense” building is compared to what already exists (permits per 1,000 homes):
• Raleigh: 28.8 (1st)
• Austin: 28.6 (2nd)
• DFW: 22.2 (3rd)

Why this matters for real life:
More permits usually means more listings coming, more new construction neighborhoods, and sometimes better timing for buyers and renters depending on where inventory is landing (and what commute/roads you’re dealing with).
