The 5 Questions Everyone Asks Before Moving to Southwest Florida 🌴
Answered by someone who actually lives and works here. ↓
Q: Is it really as expensive as people say?
A: No. Compared to most major metros, SWFL is still significantly affordable. No state income tax changes the math dramatically. A family moving from New York or Chicago typically sees their monthly cost of living stay the same or decrease, while their quality of life multiplies.
Q: What’s the best area – Fort Myers, Cape Coral, or Naples?
A: Depends on your lifestyle. Fort Myers = growing city energy, diverse neighborhoods, central access. Cape Coral = waterfront lifestyle, canals everywhere, newer construction. Naples = luxury, upscale, quieter, beach-close. I can help you figure out which fits YOU specifically.
Q: Is Florida just for retirees?
A: The fastest-growing demographic in SWFL right now is families and young professionals aged 28–45. The workforce is here. The schools are here. The lifestyle is here. All are welcome to their own slice of paradise.
Q: What about hurricanes?
A: This is the honest answer. SWFL does get storms. But most homes built after 2000 have impact windows, hurricane-rated roofs, and insurance built for it. Floridians don’t run from storms, we prepare and we rebuild. And the other 11 months of the year make it entirely worth it.
Q: How do I even start the process of relocating?
A: That’s exactly what I do. I work with relocating buyers and sellers from all over the country and I know every step, from virtual tours, to relocation timeline planning, to understanding neighborhoods before you even get on a plane. It starts with a conversation.
