On May 10, 2024, Governor DeSantis signed HB 1561 which requires medical malpractice insurance for gluteal fat grafting (Brazilian Butt Lifts) performed in office facilities. This closes a major loophole, since prior to the passage of this law the vast majority of these procedures were performed by doctors who did not have malpractice insurance at facilities without insurance. Many terrible results and deaths occurred and those injured and their families could not recover anything because the physicians and facilities involved were uninsured and uncollectable. Hopefully, this will allow those patients and families affected by these tragedies to at least obtain some financial recovery. It is about time!!
