“The $400M lawsuit got dismissed.”-Part3
But what does that actually mean legally?

Production company Wayfarer Studios filed a $400 million counterclaim alleging defamation and extortion against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. In June 2025, a federal judge dismissed major portions of those claims under anti-SLAPP principles and First Amendment protections.

According to the ruling, workplace complaints and sexual harassment allegations may qualify as protected speech and generally cannot be used as the basis for a retaliatory defamation lawsuit.

The dispute surrounding “It Ends With Us” continues to generate discussion about:
⚖️ Defamation
⚖️ Protected speech
⚖️ Retaliation claims
⚖️ Public figure litigation

What exactly is an “Anti-SLAPP” motion?

Anti-SLAPP laws are designed to prevent powerful individuals or entities from using lawsuits to intimidate, pressure, or silence people who are exercising their First Amendment rights.

In this video, we briefly discuss the anti-SLAPP aspect connected to the ongoing Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni legal dispute, including how certain laws may protect individuals who report workplace harassment or retaliation from facing retaliatory defamation claims.
