One reason why I started this business is because to me, how you treat people is EVERYTHING. It's a reflection of your business, your staff and who you are outside of an office. With that said, I swore I'd never treat anyone like their feelings don't matter. In this business, feelings are always involved especially in regards to the nature of documents.
But what I DO do with this business is I blacklist every person/business who reaches out to me and chooses to not be professional. I had an escrow company reach out to me via a text message on top of Peoh Point in which I just happened to have service. When I respond in what I think is a timely manner, they said "oh, I found someone". I thank them for considering me and hope they may also consider me in the future. And I get nothing back. Not an "absolutely" not an "absolutely not", not anything.
Yesterday I received a phone call from a title company. I wasn't able to answer my phone so she left a voicemail. I called her back in 28 minutes. So I then left HER a voicemail. Heard nothing. Guess what? Blacklisted.
THIS
IS
RUDE
AND
UNPROFESSIONAL
And I will not tolerate it. Notaries hold the power to refuse a signing because "something feels off" or for any reason we deem unusual. Yes, money is nice but you know what's nicer? Having an upstanding, professional client who doesn't have the ego of a 2 year old and takes the 2.5 minutes out of their day to return a phone call or say 1 word to you. If you call your doctors office and at the end of the phone call, the receptionist just hangs up on you. No "I'm so glad I could help you, I hope the rest of your day is amazing". Just a cold slam in your ear. Are you going to tolerate that? Probably not.
I do NOT have to notarize for you now or any time in the future. And I won't if you're going to be socially rude. That's my standard. I want a clientele that I'm completely committed to serving and that I take pride in. There's no room for rude people at my table.
