A Nebraska native, Paul graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater. Prior to adding real estate to his professional résumé, he founded his own interior design business, Paul Hanson Design. Paul's diverse experience offers a unique opportunity to combine fields and

In 1961, our company, Mangelsen’s, opened its doors to provide Omahans with products that helped them celebrate holidays, remember special days, enjoy favorite hobbies, and display memories. We’re thrilled to know that family scrapbooks, lovingly decorated cakes, framed special images, party goods for birthdays and events, perfect fabrics for cherished quilts, wonderful Christmas decorations, and Halloween costumes brought smiles to many families and hold special places in your hearts.

Now, 64 years later, we are just as excited as we were back then to welcome our
customers and continue helping you and your loved ones celebrate life’s most important moments.

For that, we want to say, “Thank You!!”

Over the years, key moments have shaped Mangelsen’s into what we are today. For the past 25 years, we’ve loved decorating and celebrating with Omaha, participating in Durham’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Event, and bringing festive cheer by
decorating both the Omaha Community Playhouse and the Orpheum.

The Farmhouse added a cozy touch to our business, serving what we proudly call the
best home-cooked meals in Omaha. In 1995, we launched our Fun Club to show our
appreciation and help customers enjoy the benefits of loyalty and rewards. Our haunted house, The Shadow’s Edge, brought joy (and a little horror), creating seasonal jobs for theatrical enthusiasts. Like other local businesses, the pandemic was challenging, but we adapted with curb-side pick-up and delivery to continue supporting our community. We’ve also expanded our classroom space to help customers learn new skills and explore their creativity.

We’ve kept our community and customers at the heart of every decision, and we truly believe our little company has made a meaningful impact on Omaha and the surrounding areas for 64 wonderful years!

As we look forward to our seventh decade in business, we can’t help but reflect on what the next five years might bring for Mangelsen’s and our community.

The marketplace has changed dramatically over the past decade—how much more will it evolve in the next five years? And what will Mangelsen’s look like at that time? We don’t know what the future will bring, but we are motivated to thrive and look forward to celebrating 70 years in business with our incredible community helping.
