Business owners — this is one of those risks most people do not think about until it is too late.

If your employee gets into a car accident while running an errand, making a delivery, or doing something for your business, your company may also be pulled into the lawsuit.

That can be true even if they were driving their own car.

This is why business owners need to make sure they have the right insurance, clear rules for when employees can drive for work, and proper mileage reimbursement practices.

A quick errand can turn into a major liability issue.

Have you reviewed your business insurance and employee driving policies recently?

If an employee complains about a workplace issue and is later fired, they may claim workplace retaliation.

That’s why documentation is so important. If someone is underperforming, make sure there are records, write-ups, and notes showing what happened and when.

Protect your business before a termination turns into a legal claim.

An employee complains about harassment, safety issues, wage violations, or another workplace legal issue... and then gets fired shortly after.

That timing alone can create a serious problem for employers.

In this video, Attorney Parag L. Amin explains what a workplace retaliation lawsuit is, how it can overlap with wrongful termination, and why documentation matters before terminating an employee.

The three big takeaways:

1. Document performance issues before they become litigation issues.

2. Talk to counsel before firing someone who recently complained.

3. Keep written records at the time conversations happen, not months later.

Retaliation claims can become expensive fast, especially in California where attorney fees can become a major issue.

Thinking about using ChatGPT or Google to draft an NDA?

That can be a good starting point, but the risk is that important clauses may be missed. Those gaps can limit what you can do if the other side breaches the agreement.

If your idea or confidential information is worth protecting, it is worth having a lawyer review the NDA before you rely on it. It should not take a lot of time or money, and it can help prevent bigger problems later.

A well-drafted NDA matters. The gaps are what usually create the lawsuits.

Workplace retaliation claims often happen when an employee is fired after raising a concern about safety, legal violations, or workplace misconduct.

For employers, documentation matters. If you say an employee was underperforming, but there are no write-ups, warnings, or records in their file, it may be much harder to defend the termination.

Before terminating an employee who recently complained about something at work, make sure your records support the real reason for the decision.

One of the things I care about most is how clients feel while they’re going through a dispute. Legal issues are stressful, and most business owners don’t want “legal theater”, they want a clear plan, honest guidance, and consistent communication.

Sonny Tran shared a testimonial about his experience with our team, and I’m thankful for it. Our goal is simple: make the process clearer, protect your position, and push toward the most efficient resolution possible.

One of my favorite movies is Gladiator, and there’s a line that’s always stuck with me: “Strength and honor.”

The older I get, the more I realize how much we’re missing those two things in society. Strength isn’t volume or bravado, it’s being steady in the face of adversity. And honor isn’t something you talk about, it’s how you deal with people when you don’t have to do the right thing.

If we brought more strength and more honor into our day-to-day decisions, especially in business, we’d have fewer broken relationships, fewer disputes, and a lot more trust.

A lot of people assume the only way to solve a serious dispute is to file a lawsuit.

In reality, many times the smartest first move is a demand letter because it can resolve a very expensive problem efficiently, before litigation costs take over.

The demand letters that get results aren’t emotional. They’re clear. They lay out the facts and the law, and they show the other side why litigation isn’t in their best interest.

And here’s the part people underestimate: credibility matters. When the firm behind the letter actually litigates and tries cases, the other side treats the risk differently and that often leads to a more efficient outcome.

If you’re dealing with a dispute and you’re trying to decide what the next step should be, my team and I are happy to help.

When I was younger, my mom really wanted me to be a doctor. In a lot of Indian households, that’s the path: doctor, engineer, or you’re “wasting potential.” So I tried to make it work. I volunteered in hospitals for months, including the ER and pharmacy, and I realized something simple: I respected the profession deeply… but I didn’t want that life for myself.
Choosing law meant going against what my parents wanted, and that wasn’t easy. But it ended up being the right decision, not just for me, but for the clients I’m honored to serve. Being able to speak Gujarati and Hindi has allowed me to connect with Indian business owners in a way that goes beyond legal theory, because trust, culture, and communication matter when you’re dealing with real problems.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is simple: whatever you do, do it with your whole heart and do it with a sense of service. That mindset has made all the difference in my work and the results we fight for.
