Problem: Even as genomic science advances therapies, patients with chronic disease are treated, then released in much the same manner as they were in the early 1900s.

Hospital treatments often occur in ways that do not promote hope, healing, or the drive for survival that has been proven to yield better outcomes. Patients tend to be quickly released, often with a printed handout or handwritten note; and are expected to learn on their own how to heal, achieve wellbeing, and avoid a recurrence. Our Solution: To create cost effective ways for patients to be treated that will motivate and inspire them to thrive; educate them utilizing experiential learning that will be remembered; then provide expert evidence based post-treatment guidance to accompany them for the remainder of their patient journey.

AI for Good: Pinnacle Awards Names Reimagine Well Platinum Winner in 2026 Artificial Intelligence Awards for Human Impact

The Pinnacle Awards have announced that Reimagine Well has been named the Platinum winner in the “AI for Mental Health & Wellbeing” category as part of the 2026 Artificial Intelligence Awards. The recognition honors Reimagine Well’s groundbreaking collaboration with City of Hope Orange County to develop the immersive Wetterau Family Spiritual Care Center, a pioneering environment designed to support the emotional and spiritual wellbeing of cancer patients, their families, and healthcare staff.

The Pinnacle Artificial Intelligence Awards celebrate organizations and leaders whose innovations are shaping the future of technology while delivering measurable impact across industries and communities. Winners are selected for their achievements in AI innovation, enterprise transformation, responsible implementation, and meaningful real-world results. “The 2026 Artificial Intelligence winners represent the highest level of innovation, responsibility, and real-world performance in AI today,” said Kate Lang, Executive Director of the Pinnacle Awards. “Reimagine Well’s work with City of Hope demonstrates how technology can be thoughtfully applied to address deeply human needs. Their immersive spiritual care environment shows the power of AI and experiential technology to provide comfort, connection, and healing during life’s most challenging moments.”

The award-winning initiative centers around the creation of the Wetterau Family Spiritual Care Center, the first immersive, multi-faith spiritual care environment of its kind. Developed through the collaboration between Reimagine Well and City of Hope Orange County, the center blends advanced technology with faith-based care to create a sanctuary where patients and families can find peace, reflection, and spiritual support while navigating cancer treatment. A key part of the design process involved listening directly to the community the center serves. Reimagine Well began the project by surveying patients and their families with a simple but powerful question: “If you feel the need for prayer and you could be in any sacred space, where would you go?” Their responses—along with insights from community faith leaders—helped shape every aspect of the experience.

Through an intuitive touchscreen interface, patients can select their desired sacred environment and, within moments, be transported into immersive spiritual settings. These include a chapel, mandir, mosque, synagogue, or temple, as well as calming nature environments such as alpine forests or the Southern California shoreline. The experience is made possible through a seamless integration of large-scale projections, high-definition displays, spatial audio, and interactive technology designed to create a deeply calming atmosphere. “For City of Hope to recognize how important it is to give patients and families a way to return to their sacred places—within the walls of a hospital—is extraordinary,” said Roger Holzberg. “Optimal health involves not only the mind and body, but the spirit as well.”

The center also features a Tranquility Room, providing additional privacy for immunocompromised patients or those seeking a more intimate spiritual experience. The space can also accommodate private sessions with clergy or faith leaders, ensuring that patients receive spiritual care in a way that aligns with their personal beliefs and needs. By blending immersive technology with compassionate care, the project represents a new frontier in how AI-driven and experiential environments can support emotional and spiritual wellbeing within healthcare settings.

The Pinnacle Awards recognized the initiative not only for its technical innovation, but also for its powerful demonstration of how AI and immersive technology can be used to create meaningful human impact.
