🏡 MARKET MONDAY | DFW MARKET WATCH
Mortgage rates are at a three-year high. But does that mean you should put your life on hold?
That’s a question worth talking about!
The average 30-year mortgage rate reached 7.40% last week, and yes, that’s the highest we’ve seen in about three years.
But here’s something I want you to remember.
We’ve been here before. In fact, we’ve been through much higher interest rates, and people continued to buy and sell homes.
After more than 44 years in real estate, I’ve worked through markets with double-digit interest rates, falling prices, rising prices, and just about everything in between.
And we’ve gotten through them.
Here’s what the latest numbers are telling us:
🏡 DFW home values are down approximately 1.9% from a year ago, according to Zillow’s September estimates.
🏘️ Available inventory is down about 3.9% from last year.
✂️ About 27.5% of DFW listings have had a price reduction.
📈 Mortgage rates reached 7.40%, making monthly payments more challenging for some buyers.
But numbers don’t tell the whole story. Your story matters, too.
Personally, I believe these higher rates are temporary and that we’ll see some relief, possibly in 2027. But that’s my outlook, not a promise. Nobody can tell us exactly when rates will change.
And I certainly wouldn’t encourage anyone to buy a home today based on the hope of refinancing tomorrow.
What I WOULD encourage you to do is look at your own situation.
❤️ What do you need from your next home?
❤️ What are your goals for the next few years?
❤️ Does your current home still fit your life?
❤️ And most importantly, what makes financial sense for YOU?
Sometimes the right decision is to move. Sometimes it’s to stay right where you are.
My job isn’t to talk you into buying or selling a house.
My job is to listen, understand what’s important to you, and help you make a decision you’ll feel good about, not just today, but years from now.
That’s what I mean when I say I lead, guide, and protect my clients.
We’ve navigated changing markets before, and we’ll navigate this one, too.
👇 I’m curious. Are today’s interest rates causing you to put your plans on hold, or are you moving forward with what matters to you?
Let’s talk about your situation, not just the headlines.
You are not alone. I’m your REALTOR®, I’ll be there for YOU.
