The RBA would like to thank Jeff Rogers with Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) for being our guest speaker at our June meeting. Mr. Rogers, who serves as the RCPS Work-Based Learning and Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator, provided us with an overview of the work-based learning program which is designed to prepare students to master competencies in the workplace and in specific career-related occupations. Sam Crowe, Treasurer of the RBA, presented a $500 donation to Diane Adoma with the Shop the Rock Campaign at our June bar meeting. Shop the Rock is an initiative designed to encourage residents in Rockdale County to shop and support local businesses. Money spent in Conyers and Rockdale County stays here, supporting our tax base and services provided to the community, and ultimately results in saving to homeowners. Dollars spent in Conyers and Rockdale County help fund vital services like public safety, the fire department, recreation and park improvements that blend for a more fulfilling quality of life. Volunteers and Sponsors needed! Deadline is March 22nd!

The inaugural Hands Across Rockdale event is scheduled for Saturday, April 14. There have been 21 projects identified across the county requiring the assistance of 200+ volunteers.

If you are planning to volunteer -- either as an individual or with a group -- please make sure you sign up on line at www.handsacrossrockdale.org. If you are with a large group, please specify the group’s name when you register so that you can be sure to be placed on the same job site. It would be best if one person from the group signed up for everyone. Pre-registration will ensure you are assigned a project as well as guarantee a t-shirt for you.

Sponsorships are also still needed. All sponsors at $50 and above will have their names on the shirts -- $250 and above will have logos in premium placement. You can sign up and pay on line at www.handsacrossrockdale.org.
