If you are considering the acquisition of a recently completed property in SC, make sure that the assessor's office has assigned a taxable value to the building before closing the deal. You lose the potential 25% tax exemption if there is no taxable value to compare the sales price with.

The Horry County Assessor’s Office is in the process of appraising all properties at fair market value, with an effective date of December 31, 2018. This new value will be used for calculating property tax bills issued by the Horry County Treasurer’s Office during October 2019. We can assist with your appeals later this year.
