Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom — and a reminder that justice must never be silent.

On June 19, 1865, word of emancipation finally reached the last enslaved people in Texas — nearly two and a half years after it was law.

At The Cochran Firm Cleveland, we understand the cost of delayed justice. That’s why we fight daily for those whose voices have been ignored for too long.

Juneteenth isn’t just history — it’s a promise we work to fulfill every day.

Two lives lost. One city in pain.

In just 48 hours, Ryan Hinton, an 18-year-old teen, was allegedly involved in a stolen vehicle investigation and was fatally shot by Cincinnati police.

The next day, his father, Rodney Hinton Jr., was allegedly involved in an incident that led to the death of a sheriff’s deputy — and now faces charges.

Two families now face unimaginable loss. A city is mourning. And at the center of it all is a question that can no longer be ignored:

How did we get here?

Ryan was not perfect — but he was loved, he was young, and he was still figuring life out. Instead, his story ended in “six quick seconds.”

Bodycam footage shows him running. Police say he was armed — but he never fired, and whether he pointed a weapon remains unclear. Still, multiple rounds were fired. And Ryan fell.

The next day, after watching the video of his son’s death, Rodney Hinton left the police station. Moments later, tragedy struck again.

This isn’t just about one moment or one decision. This is about trauma, the ripple effects of state-sanctioned violence, and how quickly grief can fracture a family, a neighborhood — a city.

We are not here to excuse wrongdoing. We are here to ask why tragedies like these keep happening… and to demand a justice system that values accountability, fairness, and humanity.

Ryan’s life mattered. And the truth matters.

We are proud to represent the Hinton family as they seek answers and justice.

Follow and for updates.

Who Was Ryan Hinton?

As the investigation into Ryan Hinton’s death continues, we want to center this moment on the young life lost—and the grief and complexity that followed.

Ryan Hinton was just 18 years old when he was shot and killed by a Cincinnati police officer within six seconds of being seen in body camera footage. His death has sparked outrage, questions about police use of force, and a demand for answers that still haven’t come.

His father, Rodney Hinton Jr., is now at the center of a related tragedy. According to public records, Rodney once attended Purcell Marian High School and previously pleaded guilty to assault and aggravated menacing in 2023. But what’s clear is this: Rodney was also a man who used his voice on social media to speak out against police brutality, sharing stories like those of Nate Woods and Atatiana Jefferson—both of whom were Black victims of controversial police actions.

Now, his own son has become part of that painful narrative.

This case is not just about statistics or court proceedings—it’s about a family, a son, and a father whose lives were violently altered in a matter of hours.

Follow for updates as we pursue justice in Ryan Hinton’s case.

Two tragedies. One family. Endless questions.”

Just hours after viewing the bodycam footage of his son Ryan Hinton’s fatal police shooting, Rodney Hinton Jr. was involved in a separate incident that claimed the life of a Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy.

Now, Mr. Hinton stands accused and has been arraigned — a grieving father caught in the storm of unspeakable loss and public outrage.

We share these images not to assign guilt, but to underscore the devastating ripple effect of these violent encounters.

The law demands accountability, yes — but it also demands fairness.

As the community mourns both lives lost, we continue to call for transparency, compassion, and due process for every family touched by this tragedy.

You send your child out for a night with friends. You expect them to come home.

Instead, you get a phone call you never imagined.

He was shot.

No warning. No time to react. Just chaos, confusion, and pain.
He was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries — damage to his lungs, broken ribs, and emotional scars that will last a lifetime.

This could’ve been anyone’s son, brother, or friend.

Too often, violence happens where safety should be a priority — but security is an afterthought.
When businesses cut corners and fail to protect their patrons, the consequences are tragic.

At The Cochran Firm Cleveland, we hold property owners and club operators accountable when their negligence leads to harm.
Our Managing Partner, Shean Williams, is dedicated to helping families fight for justice and demanding change where it’s long overdue.

Imagine being 22. You’ve got your whole life ahead of you. You play ball. You’re active. You get into an ATV accident — nothing life-threatening — but you head to the hospital for surgery on your shoulder.

When you wake up… your leg is gone.

No leg injury. No prior issues. Just gone.

This was someone’s reality after what should have been a routine procedure. A future athlete… forever changed. The dreams, the movement, the freedom — taken without warning.

Medical negligence is real. And its impact? Devastating.

If something doesn’t feel right after a hospital stay or surgery — don’t stay silent.

We’re The Cochran Firm Cleveland, and we fight for people when the system fails them.
Our Managing Partner and medical malpractice attorney, Jane Lamberti, is here to help families get the justice they deserve.
