Good morning from the Law office of Samuel Jackson III. Chicago's federal court has adopted a new transparency rule requiring public notice when a grand jury rejects criminal charges ("no bill") in cases where charges were already filed. The move follows several rare no-bill decisions tied to last year's Operation Midway Blitz deportation crackdown. Chief Judge Virginia Kendall said the rule may be among the first of its kind in the country, giving the public greater insight into how often grand juries decline to approve federal prosecutions.
