🪪 The "F2A visa" is for spouses of green card holders. The spouse may be petitioned either while living in their home country, or while visiting the U.S.

💡 Did you know? 💡

1️⃣ When a green card holder petitioner becomes a U.S. citizen through naturalization, their existing petition for their spouse keeps its "priority date." What's more, the petition becomes UPGRADED to an "IR" or "Immediate Relative" visa petition, which is faster and is no longer subject to Visa Bulletin limits.

2️⃣ When a green card holder's spouse visits the U.S., they are, in certain circumstances, also able to apply for a green card at the same time.

3️⃣ When a green card holder files a petition for a spouse, that spouse's children below 21 are also automatically eligible for a visa without needing to file a separate petition for the children.

[ADVISORY] FALSE INFORMATION ON DUAL CITIZENSHIP CIRCULATING AGAIN

The Philippine Embassy in Washington DC is aware of another viral video falsely claiming that the U.S. government has announced a crackdown on dual citizens starting October 2025. This is not true.

As stated in our previous advisory (https://tinyurl.com/424r5svx), the U.S. government has not implemented any policy changes regarding dual citizenship. The United States continues to recognize that individuals may hold citizenship in more than one country. There is no new policy requiring dual citizens to renounce another nationality, nor is there a “crackdown” underway.

We urge the Filipino community to verify information through official government sources, avoid sharing unverified content, and report false information to the platform where it is published.

In March 2023, USCIS conducted an initial random selection on properly submitted electronic registrations for the fiscal year (FY) 2024 H-1B cap, including for beneficiaries eligible for the advanced degree exemption. Only those petitioners with selected registrations for FY 2024 are eligible to file H-1B cap-subject petitions. The initial filing period for those with selected registrations for FY 2024 was from April 1, 2023, through June 30, 2023.

We recently determined that we would need to select additional registrations to reach the FY 2024 numerical allocations. Soon, we will select additional registrations from previously submitted electronic registrations using a random selection process. We will announce once we have completed this second selection process and have notified all prospective petitioners with selected registrations from this round of selection that they are eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition for the beneficiary named in the applicable selected registration.

Those with selected registrations will have their myUSCIS accounts updated to include a selection notice, which includes details of when and where to file.

Effective 01 February 2022, foreign travelers from 100+ countries including the United States, are now again allowed to enter the Philippines visa-free.

Also according to IATF Resolution No. 159, the Risk Classification of countries into "green," "yellow," and "red" list, is temporarily suspended.

All travelers shall no longer be required to undergo facility-based quarantine, and shall instead show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, and a negative RT-PCR test result taken in the last 48 hours prior to departure.

Starting 06 December 2021, all inbound travelers to the U.S. must present a negative Covid-19 test taken NO MORE THAN 1 DAY prior to boarding.

This new rule shall be in addition to vaccination requirements that took effect last month.

U.S. Department of State today announces that the "Tier" system of interviews shall no longer be followed. Both Family-based and Employment-based immigrant visas shall be given equal priority.

Scheduling and availability still depends on each post's capacity and host country conditions.
