Twelve-hour shifts. Alarms. Charting at midnight. Walking out of the hospital knowing I gave everything I had and still wishing I could do more.
For years, I stood at the bedside advocating for patients in real time. I caught errors. I asked hard questions. I spoke up when something didn’t feel right.
But too often, I watched families leave with more questions than answers after harm had already occurred.
Becoming a legal nurse consultant was my way of continuing that advocacy; just in a different arena.
Now, instead of racing down hallways, I’m reviewing records. Instead of bedside conversations, I’m helping attorneys and families understand what should have happened, what did happen, and where the system failed. The goal is the same: give patients a voice.
The work looks different. The purpose hasn’t changed.
Every chart tells a story. Every case represents a person who trusted the system. This chapter of my career exists to make sure their story is heard.
