That stopped me for a moment.
Because 26 years can feel like forever when youโre looking forwardโฆ
and incredibly short when youโre looking back.
Imagine a young couple in Charlotte in 2000.
They werenโt wealthy. They didnโt have everything figured out. They had jobs, bills, responsibilities, and probably plenty of reasons to say:
โ๐๐ข๐บ๐ฃ๐ฆ ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐น๐ต ๐บ๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ.โ
โ๐๐ข๐บ๐ฃ๐ฆ ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐ธ๐ฆ ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฆ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐บ.โ
โ๐๐ข๐บ๐ฃ๐ฆ ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ฎ๐ข๐ณ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ต ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ด ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ง๐ฆ๐ค๐ต.โ
But they bought a modest first home.
It wasnโt their dream home.
It was simply their first asset.
Years passed.
Careers changed. Children grew up. Life happened.
But month after month, part of that mortgage payment was building ownership. And as the years went by, that home had the potential to become more than the place where birthdays were celebrated and family memories were made.
It became equity.
And eventually, that equity could mean options.
Maybe it helped fund another property.
Maybe it helped with retirement.
Maybe it helped a child purchase their first home.
Maybe it simply meant reaching 50 with an asset they owned instead of starting from zero.
That is the part of real estate I wish more people talked about.
๐๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐ฐ๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐ซ๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐จ๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ โ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ก ๐๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก.โ
Sometimes it begins with one ordinary decision made years before anyone understands just how important it will become.
And no, this doesnโt mean everyone should rush out and buy a house regardless of price, finances, or circumstances.
It means we should stop waiting for a mythical โperfect timeโ and start asking a better question:
๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐๐ง ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐จ๐๐๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ง๐ค ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ ๐ฒ๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ง๐จ๐ฐ?
Because the next 10, 20, or 25 years are going to pass either way.
The real question is:
