Wow. I’m not sure what to say; and I just sat face to face and said, “that was a lot” for about 35 min this evening… I haven’t personally experienced such an… experience before. Please forgive my appearance… apparently certain types of body work feels like an exorcism lol and I found out the fun way… but it was QUITE beautiful. Just shocking. Thanks so much to , Martha, for teaching us the Andean postpartum rituals she uses in her midwifery practice in Ecuador. I am changed FOREVER. Physically, emotionally, spiritually, professionally… I’m working on my Spanish so we can spend a couple months with you in Ecuador! Haha muchas gracias, maestra ✨ 🫶🏽 🌿

A doula, a non-profit founder, and a perinatal mental health professional walk into a bar… or rather, the U.S. Capitol for a sip & celebrate event with commemorating the monumental work of and legacy supporting maternal mental health. So honored to be in the room, even if we left with blisters on our feet we were in great company

What a Black Community Doula day (two, to be exact) I have had. It’s been up and down, an honored privilege to show up and support, and with teaching and supporting, I don’t think I miss one single realm of possibilities of doula support in the last 48 hours. They gave me this band, and I was hesitant to be identified as “doula”, since the title rarely gives me privilege in the hospital system, but I gave it a go, and it’s finally coming off while I soak my doula soul. I wish peace, rest, liberation, joy, on my relatives that answer the call

partners have released 7-demands to protect, uplift and honor the Black Doula profession. Black Doulas are demanding an equitable wage, to be included as experts in legislative efforts, not to be used as a bandage for the BMH crisis, to have their mental health prioritized, to not
be regulated by the state, and to be empowered to utilize
other titles for their work outside of the colonized term

Doulas provide physical and emotional support before, during and after birth. Such care used to be seen as a luxury and was available only to those who could afford it.
