🚨 Important U.S. Supreme Court ruling for Health Coaches + Wellness Practitioners

A recent court decision could eventually change the law for the entire wellness industry.

In Chiles v. Salazar, the Court recognized that conversations between professionals and clients can qualify as protected speech under the First Amendment.

Why does that matter?

Because coaching, wellness guidance, nutrition education, mindset support, and lifestyle recommendations are all rooted in conversation.

🚪 While state laws haven't changed yet (so keep the course!), this decision opens the door to future legal arguments that health coaching may also qualify as protected speech.

To be clear:

❌ This does NOT eliminate medical or dietetics licensing laws. Keep following them.

❌ It does NOT allow unlicensed practitioners to diagnose, treat disease, or provide medical nutrition therapy. Don’t do those things.

But it is an important case to watch… especially if you're a non-licensed health coach, nutrition professional, or wellness practitioner working online.

For now:

✔️ Follow state laws.
✔️ Stay within your scope of practice.
✔️ Keep your contracts, disclaimers, and titles up to date.

I'll be keeping a close eye on how this impacts the coaching and wellness industries + will share updates along the way.
