The church and Mid-Pen Housing are in the very preliminary stages of penciling out a proposal. This is not in permit stage. The proposal is for the corner of Leigh and Moorpark, removing the existing buildings but leaving the sanctuary and creating a 100 unit studio housing development with on site wrap around services and security for homeless. Mid-Pen has a stellar reputation in this area and I had a lengthy discussion with them about the issues in the neighborhood.
Again, this is very, very, very preliminary. What they would like is to chat with neighbors about the pros and cons before going forward. We discussed access, safety, parking and how referrals would be handled. There will be on site management, 24 hour security and on site counseling and social services.

I only have an English flyer at the moment and suggested that since one of the people at the church has worked with nearby tenants they might look at a daytime focus group earlier in the day so Spanish speaking moms with kids can attend without dealing with daycare.
