Type of Cases
There are many different types of personal injury cases that an individual may file in order to seek compensation for damages sustained as a result of another party's negligence or wrong doing. Some common types of personal injury cases include:
Automobile Accidents
These cases involve injuries sustained as a result of a collision between motor vehicles, such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, and buses. Injuries can range from minor cuts and bruises to more serious injuries such as broken bones, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries.
Slip and Fall Accidents
These cases involve injuries sustained as a result of a fall on someone else's property. Common causes of slip and fall accidents include uneven pavement, wet floors, and poorly lit areas. Injuries can range from minor sprains and strains to more serious injuries such as broken bones, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries.
Medical Malpractice
These cases involve injuries sustained as a result of a healthcare professional's negligence or wrongdoing. Common examples of medical malpractice include misdiagnosis, surgical errors, and birth injuries. Injuries can range from minor infections to more serious injuries such as permanent disability or death.
Product Liability
These cases involve injuries sustained as a result of a defect in a product. Common examples of product liability include defective automobiles, defective medical devices, and faulty consumer products. Injuries can range from minor cuts and bruises to more serious injuries such as broken bones, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries.
Wrongful Death
These cases involve the death of an individual as a result of another party's negligence or wrongdoing. Common examples of wrongful death include deaths resulting from automobile accidents, medical malpractice, and workplace accidents.
Dog Bite
These cases involve injuries sustained as a result of a dog bite or attack. Injuries can range from minor cuts and bruises to more serious injuries such as scarring and disfigurement, and in some cases death.
Workplace Accidents
These cases involve injuries sustained as a result of an accident or exposure to hazardous conditions in the workplace. Common examples of workplace accidents include construction site accidents, industrial accidents, and exposure to hazardous chemicals. Injuries can range from minor cuts and bruises to more serious injuries such as broken bones, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries.
Pedestrian Accidents
These cases can be particularly devastating, as pedestrians are relatively unprotected compared to vehicle occupants. In the U.S., an estimated 5,987 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes in 2018, accounting for 17% of all traffic fatalities. Most pedestrian accidents occur when a motor vehicle strikes a pedestrian who is walking on a roadway, crossing a street, or walking along the side of a road.
These are just a few examples of the many different types of personal injury cases that an individual may file. Each case is unique, and the specific circumstances of the incident will determine the type of case that is appropriate.
