CHANGE | Mayor Jonathan McCollar shares some of the challenges of leading positive change even in dark political times with Pre-Law Fellows. "We honor the ancestors, the known and unknown, whose lives, labor, suffering, courage, and hope made this day possible," said Mayor McCollar. We remember them not as distant history, but as a sacred charge.

May our remembrance become action. May our truth-telling become justice. May our community continue building a future rooted in memory, dignity, and freedom.

TRUTH-TELLING | Today, our Avarita Laurel Hanson Pre-Law Fellows at Davis Bozeman Johnson Law, Jayden Rudulfo and MacKenzie Fitzpatrick, joined Statesboro Mayor Jonathan McCollar, to lay a Wreath at the Equal Justice Initiative marker at Statesboro City Hall in remembrance of those whose lives were taken by racial terror.

Juneteenth is more than a celebration. It is truth-telling. It is remembrance. It is a call to continue the work of freedom.

We remember. We honor. We rise.

On May 30, 2026, Margaret Swan was tragically taken from this world while doing something she did everyday, riding MARTA. According to her daughter, no one helped. No one intervened. And now, a family grieves for a Mother and Grandmother.

Atlanta, we have a problem! Margaret Swan’s fatal attacked was not the first in recent weeks in OUR city. Our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, neighbors and strangers deserve better. No one should fear walking, riding public transportation, going to the gas station or a public event to celebrate the city.

Join the Atlanta community to honor the life of Margaret Swan and other victims of tragic violence in Atlanta. Make the pledge to Protect One Another. This is not about the World Cup, this is about us being responsible for each other!
