Due to the extent of the injuries my son sustained in his motor vehicle accident and so that I can focus on my family and his constant care, I've made the decision to close my law practice. I am working to communicate with each of my clients to develop a plan. I'm so very grateful for the number of attorneys who have offered to assist my clients and me.

My son sustained 69% TBSA 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his body, from head to ankles. It's been nearly a month and he remains in critical condition, albeit making progress. They anticipate he will be in TBICU a minimum of 3-4 months. He will have many surgeries.

I have to be able to focus on learning how to provide his physical and mental health care now, and for when he is discharged to my home. Since the moment of his accident, our family has been living in a whirlwind.

I am beginning to reach out to each of my clients individually. I will work diligently, but please forgive me, some days are so hectic. There's so much to process and, my heart is heavy.

Thank you all for entrusting myself and our firm to provide legal services to you during the last 14 years and 8 months. I have truly been blessed in so many ways.

I look forward to resuming my legal career when I take the bench in January 2025.

Thank you all, Shirley

When I thought I knew where I would spend the remainder of my working career. Oh, the irony, that I'm moving out this month - 9 years later. God's plans don't always match ours.

Day 1 of pouring parking lot has begun!

Move in date scheduled for May 8

I will be taking a work vacation from the evening of May 2 until noon on May 8. This will finally be my rest period. If you need me during that time, don't 😅

Seriously, if you do, please reach out to me now for us to make a plan. My calendar is pretty slammed until then, but I'll do my best to fit you in beforehand.

Thank you all, Shirley

Today, I had the opportunity to meet with Judge Martin briefly. Beginning in June, I will begin shadowing her at least one day per week for the remainder of the year, with plans to increase the number of days per week as we near the end of the year.

I anticipate being fully trained by Judge Martin and her staff before I take the bench in January 2025.

I attended the Child Abuse Awareness Candlelight Vigil last week as the new Probate Judge Elect. I had been planning to attend but it had been postponed several times due to weather and just so happened to be the evening after the election.

Thank you to our current Judges and CASA for including me to light the first candle with the rest of our Judiciary Branch.

Such a moving event. If you missed it, I hope you'll join us next year.
