Mother nature has certainly been providing weather not good for aerial photo flights. I am looking forward to warmer weather in the spring. Of course not the winds.

A quick update. This is my 40th year of business. The FAA has now issued over 107,000 Part 107 drone licenses. So the market is flooded with an assortment of drone photography businesses. Drones legally can only operate up to 400 feet. Waivers are needed to fly over people. The important factor for commercial aerial photography is perspective. With my camera in the airplane at 1000' or higher, the vantage point provides a great view to best show the relationships of a site with surrounding environment. This is critical information for a potential buyer to quickly evaluate a location. It's also a cost effective tool.

Due to technology changes, drones have become the household word for aerial photography now. Since the FAA started the Part 107 license program about 2 years ago, over 90,000, thats right, ninety thousand licenses have been issued in the U.S.Thats an average of 1800 per state. The market is flooded. By regulation, drones are only permitted to a max elevation of 400 feet above ground. I still fly the airplane which provides my clients the needed view from over 1000 feet above ground. This shows the best vantage point for commercial real estate. I appreciate all the clients who continue to have me as part of their team. This is my 40th year in business.

The green on the leaves are back, so now the aerial orders are coming in again. Plus tax season is over and people are concentrating on promoting their projects. Spring winds do limit the number of days to fly.

New Bell AH 1Z Viper helicopter - I was fortunate to meet the two pilot delivering this helicopter to the Marines in California. They stopped at Double Eagle to refuel. The technology is this helicopter is incredible. Unfortunately this is a morning light time of day. Wanted to have the Sandia in the background so this photo is taken on the shadow side of the helicopter, but done in HDR.
