Widow Support TT

Widow Support TT Founded in 2011 by Soraya Nanan β€” Widow, Attorney, Motivational Speaker & Single Mother. Widow Support TT, through the experiences of its founder Ms.

Widow Support TT empowers widows across T&T to heal, rebuild & rise through support, advocacy & sisterhoodπŸ’œ Widow Support TT (formerly the Lincoln Nanan Foundation) is a community for widows founded by Soraya Nanan-widow, lawyer, single mother, friend & speaker. It is a sisterhood of widows who are supportive, non-judgemental, understanding, caring, thoughtful & compassionate. We

provide a safe haven where persons in grief can speak openly about their grief. Soraya Nanan, has recognised the need to have proper support systems in place on the loss of a husband. It is for this reason that the Widow Support TT’s primary goal is to offer support, advice and enrichment to the lives of widows. Despite our focus we recognise the importance of raising awareness on leukaemia in tandem with our support work. In the long term, we hope to advocate for greater focus on bone marrow transplants in Trinidad and Tobago. In a glance, Widow Support TT aims to:

1. Offer complete support – emotional, mental, and financial to widows in an attempt to enrich their lives.

2. Offer grief counselling to children who have lost a parent .

3. Establish a Widow’s Fund to assist women, financially, emotionally and otherwise, who need support after experiencing the death of their husband.

4. Network with relevant local and international organisations and professionals to ensure that widows have the support they need.

5. Source funds from donations and grants. In the long term, Widow Support TT aims to:

1. Set up a bone marrow transplant donor list for persons who are diagnosed with leukaemia and need to get a donor for a bone marrow transplant.

2. Educate persons on leukaemia and its treatment.

3. Financially assist persons of any age group who need life saving treatment, surgery or otherwise.

β€œLet us lend support for others going through this journey, which is very real and raw to us. No man is an island.” – Ms. Soraya Nanan

πŸ™πŸ½ Blessed Corpus Christi from Widow Support Trinidad & Tobago (WSTT) πŸ’œ

Today, many Christians celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi, while many families throughout Trinidad and Tobago continue the cherished tradition of planting on this special day.

Whether you are attending Mass, planting seeds, spending time with loved ones, or simply taking a moment for reflection, may this day bring peace, hope, and blessings to your life.

As seeds planted today are nurtured and grow, may we also continue to nurture faith, healing, kindness, and resilience in our hearts and communities.

Wishing everyone a safe, peaceful, and blessed Corpus Christi.

🌿 Grief on a Tuesday 🌿

We often expect grief to look like tears.

But sometimes grief looks like staring into space and forgetting what you were about to do.

Sometimes it looks like making it through the day, smiling when needed, and then feeling the weight of your loss when the world goes quiet at night.

Sometimes it looks like getting up, going to work, caring for your family, and simply surviving another Tuesday.

Grief doesn't always announce itself. It can be silent, unexpected, and woven into the ordinary moments of everyday life.

If today feels heavy, know that you are not alone. Be gentle with yourself. Healing is not about "getting over" your lossβ€”it's about learning to carry it with grace, one day at a time.

πŸ’™ To every widow, widower, and grieving heart: We see you. We understand. We are walking this journey together.

WSTT – We Heal and Grieve Together.

🌿 You Survived Another Month 🌿

As one month ends and another begins, take a moment to acknowledge how far you have come.

For those navigating grief, each month can bring difficult anniversaries, unexpected tears, cherished memories, and moments when simply getting through the day feels like an achievement.

Yet here you are.

You made it through the quiet moments, the hard conversations, the lonely days, and the memories that still take your breath away. You carried your grief, but you also carried your strength.

As we step into a new month, may you hold close the love that remains, the memories that comfort you, and the hope that brighter days can still find their way to you.

πŸ’œ Be gentle with yourself.
πŸ’œ Celebrate every small victory.
πŸ’œ Remember that healing is not a race.
πŸ’œ And most importantly, remember that you are not alone.

The Grief Iceberg reminds us that what we see on the surface is often only a small part of someone's experience.

A person may smile, go to work, stay busy, tell everyone "I'm fine," and appear strong. They may seem to be holding it all together.

What we often do not see is the grief beneath the surface.

The loneliness.
The guilt.
The sleepless nights.
The thoughts that won't stop.
The difficulty concentrating.
The physical aches and pains.
The deep longing for someone who is no longer here.

Grief is rarely as simple as it appears.

As we interact with others, let us remember that everyone is carrying something we may not fully understand. A little patience, kindness, and compassion can go a long way.

And if you are grieving, please be gentle with yourself. There is no timeline for healing and no right or wrong way to miss someone you love.

What others see is only part of the storyπŸ’™

πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡ΉπŸŒΊ Indian Arrival Day 2026 πŸŒΊπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ή

Today, we honour the courage, resilience and sacrifices of the thousands of Indian indentured labourers who arrived on the shores of Trinidad and Tobago and helped shape the rich cultural fabric of our nation.

Their journey was one of hardship, hope and determination. Through their perseverance, they laid foundations that continue to influence our society through family values, traditions, culture, food, music, language and community spirit.

As we commemorate Indian Arrival Day, we remember those who came before us, celebrate their contributions, and acknowledge the diversity that strengthens our nation.

May we continue to embrace our shared history and work together to build a future rooted in respect, understanding and unity.

Happy Indian Arrival Day from all of us at Widow Support Trinidad and Tobago (WSTT).

Remembering the past. Celebrating our heritage. Building our future.

Healing is not about escaping grief.

Many people believe healing means moving on, staying busy, or finding ways to avoid the pain. But grief often asks something very different of us.

It asks us to feel.

To sit with the sorrow.
To acknowledge the fear.
To make space for the emptiness left behind by someone we love.

There is no timeline for grief. There is no right or wrong way to miss someone. Some days you may feel strong and hopeful. Other days, a memory, a photograph, a song, or a familiar voice may bring tears all over again.

Both are part of the journey.

You do not have to fix your grief. You do not have to rush through it. Sometimes healing begins when we allow ourselves to be present with our feelings and trust that we can survive even the hardest moments.

If today feels heavy, be gentle with yourself. One breath, one step, one day at a time is enough.
