🇵🇹 PORTUGAL’S JOB SEEKER VISA: DOES IT STILL EXIST? 🔎

The job seeker visa, as many Brazilians previously knew it, ceased to exist under Law No. 61/2025, which came into force on 23 October 2025. ⚖️📄

The law now provides only for a Skilled Job Seeker Visa.

However, the eligibility criteria — including which professions qualify — depend on implementing regulations that have not yet been published.

⏳ Until those regulations are in place, Portuguese consular offices are not accepting applications under this visa category.

But waiting may not be your only option. 💡

Depending on your professional background, qualifications and personal circumstances, another immigration route may be available for your specific situation.

✈️ Planning to work and live in Portugal? Understanding your options before making a decision is essential.

🇵🇹 YOU CAN OWN A COMPANY IN PORTUGAL AND STILL NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE THERE.

Setting up a company and obtaining a residence permit are two different legal processes. ⚖️💼

🏢 Company formation is a corporate matter.

📄 Obtaining a residence permit is an immigration matter.

Being a shareholder or company director does not, by itself, grant you the right to reside in Portugal.

The appropriate immigration route depends on your personal profile, the role you intend to perform and how your business is structured. 🌍

💡 If your goal is to build a business and live in Portugal, planning should begin before you establish the company.

A successful business strategy and a sound immigration strategy need to work together.

🇵🇹 PORTUGAL’S GOLDEN VISA: MORE THAN ONE INVESTMENT ROUTE.

When people talk about the Golden Visa, many imagine a single investment pathway. But the reality is more complex. 🌍💼

Portuguese immigration law provides several investment routes, each with its own minimum amounts, eligibility criteria and legal requirements. ⚖️📄

The right strategy should not be based solely on the lowest investment threshold.

💡 Your investor profile, financial objectives, family circumstances and long-term plans should all be part of the decision.

Because choosing an investment is one thing. Choosing an investment that fits your immigration strategy is another. 📊

🎭🇵🇹 THE CULTURAL GOLDEN VISA IS ONE OF THE INVESTMENT ROUTES WITH THE LOWEST MINIMUM AMOUNT: €250,000.

But choosing a cultural project you like is not enough. ⚖️

The recipient, the project itself and the supporting documentation must all meet specific legal criteria — and the other requirements of Portugal’s Golden Visa programme still apply. 📄🏛️

An investment can make sense culturally or financially and still require a separate assessment of its eligibility for the Golden Visa. 🔎

🇵🇹🎭 PORTUGAL’S GOLDEN VISA IS NOT JUST ABOUT €500,000 INVESTMENT FUNDS.

Portuguese immigration law also provides a cultural investment route starting at €200,000 or €250,000, depending on the applicable legal conditions. 💶🏛️

This route supports artistic production or the restoration and preservation of Portugal’s national cultural heritage. 🎨

However, the beneficiary entity and the cultural project must meet specific eligibility criteria, and all other requirements of the Golden Visa (ARI) programme continue to apply. ⚖️📄

💡 Before transferring any funds, make sure the investment is legally eligible.

🎭🇵🇹 CULTURAL PATRONAGE IN PORTUGAL NOW COMES WITH STRONGER TAX INCENTIVES.

Under Decree-Law No. 167/2026, donations are, as a rule, deductible at 140% of their value, generally up to 1% of turnover. 📊

For multi-year agreements, the uplift can reach 150%. ✨

But the benefit depends on who receives the donation, how it is made, and the relationship between the parties involved. ⚖️

In other words, supporting culture can also be part of a company’s tax strategy — but the structure matters. 🎨🏛️

🎭🇵🇹 SUPPORTING CULTURE CAN ALSO BE A TAX DECISION.

Under Decree-Law No. 167/2026, donations made under Portugal’s cultural patronage framework may be considered at 140% of their value, generally up to 1% of turnover. For multi-year agreements, the uplift may reach 150%. 📊⚖️

But the tax benefit depends on who receives the donation, how it is structured, and the relationship between the parties involved.

Supporting culture can create impact — but the structure matters. 🎨🏛️
