Update on Germany Family Reunion Visa (FRV) Process
The German Embassy has officially transitioned the Family Reunion Visa (FRV) application process to a fully online system starting 15.01.2026. Applicants are now required to submit both forms and supporting documents digitally instead of in person.
Key Practical Tips for Applicants
1. Birth Registration Certificate (BRC)
There is no dedicated upload field for the spouse’s BRC.
Create one combined PDF that includes both spouses’ BRCs and upload it together.
2. Nikahnama / Proof of Relationship
Since there is no separate section for marriage proof, prepare one comprehensive PDF containing:
Marriage Registration Certificate (MRC)
Nikahnama with English or German translation
Screenshots of communication/chat history
Wedding photographs
Bank transactions or any additional supporting evidence
3. Health Insurance
Upload your health insurance document under the “Other Documents” category.
Important Submission Note
You are free to edit your forms and documents before final submission. However, once the application is submitted, no further changes are allowed — you will only be able to view it. Therefore, double-check every detail and attachment carefully before clicking submit.
Overall, the new digital system appears more organized and efficient. While there may be some initial adjustment challenges, this shift to online processing is expected to speed up application timelines in the long run.
Best of luck to all applicants!
