⚖️ If Police Refuse to Register FIR in Pakistan

1️⃣ Use Police Complaint Portals:

You can submit your complaint online through the official police complaint portal of your province or call the Police Helpline 15 to report the issue.

2️⃣ Complain to SSP / DIG through Post:

Send a written complaint by registered post to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) or Deputy Inspector General (DIG). They have the authority to order the police station to register the FIR.

3️⃣ File Application under Section 22-A / 22-B CrPC:

You can file an application before the District & Sessions Court requesting the court to direct the police to register your FIR.

📌 Important:
Police are legally bound under Section 154 CrPC to register an FIR for a cognizable offence.

🟦 Know Your Rights!

➡️ The stages of an FIR (First Information Report) under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 generally follow this sequence ⚖️:

1️⃣ Information of Offence
A person reports a cognizable offence to the police (like theft, assault, murder).
This information can be given orally or in writing.

2️⃣ Registration of FIR
The police record the complaint in the FIR register under Section 154 CrPC.
The complainant usually signs the FIR, and a copy can be given to them.

3️⃣ Investigation
After FIR registration, the police start investigation under Section 156 CrPC.
This may include:
Visiting the crime scene
Collecting evidence
Recording witness statements
Arresting the accused if necessary.

4️⃣ Arrest / Interrogation
Police may arrest the accused if there are reasonable grounds.
They can question suspects and gather more evidence.

5️⃣ Challan (Police Report)
After completing investigation, police submit a challan/report under Section 173 CrPC to the court.

6️⃣ Court Proceedings
Once the challan is filed:
Court takes cognizance of the offence
Charges may be framed
Trial begins.
