🚨 BREAKING 🚨 Lahore High Court issues guidelines to FIA regarding offloading passengers at airports

The court ruled that citizens cannot be stopped from foreign travel on "vague suspicions or unclear grounds," stating that FIA powers are not unlimited.

In a detailed judgment on a petition by Muhammad Abbas, the court noted he was offloaded despite having immigration clearance and a boarding pass, on the suspicion that he might not return from Dubai.

The court observed he was not named in any case, inquiry, blacklist, or ECL, and held that foreign travel is a "fundamental right" under the Constitution.

It further ordered that officials must record all questions asked from passengers and their responses during the process.

On behalf of Kazmi & Co. The Law Firm, we extend our heartfelt Eid-ul-Adha greetings to the entire Muslim Ummah.

We pray that Almighty Allah graciously accepts all your sacrifices and blesses us with the true understanding of the purpose, spirit, devotion, selflessness, and sacrifice exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.), enabling us to embody these values in our daily lives.

May Allah also accept the Hajj of all those blessed to perform this sacred pilgrimage this year. We humbly request you to remember us in your prayers.

As we celebrate this blessed occasion, let us ensure that the distribution of Qurbani meat is carried out in accordance with the teachings of Islam, while keeping the less fortunate and deserving members of society close to our hearts.

Please continue to remember us in your special prayers.

Eid Mubarak.

On 07.04.2026, final arguments were heard before the Hon'ble XVI Civil/Family Judge Karachi Central. Mr. Syed Qasim Shah Kazmi (Head of Chambers), Kazmi & Co along with Mrs. Tatheera Fatima, appeared on behalf of the Defendant in a Family Suit concerning maintenance, dower, recovery of alleged amounts, and gold ornaments.

The suit was contested on multiple factual and legal grounds. Upon appreciation of the evidence, the Hon’ble Court held that the dower amount had already been paid, while several claims, including maternity benefits, salary, tuition fees, insurance amount, and gold ornaments, were not proved and were accordingly declined. The Court, however, allowed maintenance for the minor at a reasonable rate @ Rs. 10,000 pkr in light of the circumstances and partly decreed the suit to a limited extent.

Accordingly, the suit was partly decreed, restricting the Defendant’s liability to the minor’s maintenance and a limited admitted amount, while dismissing the remaining claims.

Another successful outcome, ensuring that unsubstantiated claims are rejected while balancing legal obligations in accordance with law.

On 26.03.2026, before the Hon'ble 1st Senior Civil Judge South, Karachi, Mr. Syed Qasim Shah Kazmi (Head of Chambers), appeared on behalf of Defendant No. 07 (K-Electric), in a matter concerning the legality of construction at a Plot in Clifton, Karachi.

The suit, challenged through an application under Order VII Rule 11 CPC, was found to be barred by law, inter alia on grounds of res judicata, absence of locus standi, non-joinder of necessary parties, and lack of cause of action. The Court observed that the controversy had already been conclusively adjudicated by the Hon’ble High Court of Sindh, and the present proceedings amounted to an abuse of process.

Accordingly, the plaint was rejected, and all pending applications were dismissed.

Another successful outcome, reinforcing the finality of judicial determinations and discouraging frivolous litigation.

On 24.02.2026, before the Hon’ble Senior Civil Judge-XIV, West, Karachi, Mr. Syed Qasim Shah Kazmi (Head of Chambers at Kazmi & Co.) had the privilege of appearing on behalf of our client, K-Electric, in Civil Suit No. 1891/2025 (arising out of High Court Civil Suit No. 684/2014).

The matter involved serious and contested questions of fact and law, inter alia concerning the authenticity of the alleged agreement of sale, the unauthorized installation of meters and a sub-station, issues of locus standi, res judicata, absence of cause of action, disconnection of electricity, the filing of two separate stay applications, and concealment of material facts by the plaintiff.

Mr. Qasim conducted hearings on both stay applications before the Hon’ble Court, and the matter was thereafter fixed for hearing from the plaintiff’s side. However, upon persistent non-prosecution on the part of the plaintiff, the learned Court was pleased to dismiss the suit, thereby reinforcing the principle that litigants must diligently pursue their claims and approach the Court with clean hands.

Another favorable outcome for our firm in safeguarding the interests of the client and upholding procedural discipline in civil litigation.

Warmest greetings to all on the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

I pray before Almighty Allah that He graciously accept all our acts of worship, supplications, and prayers offered during the blessed month of Ramadan.

On this auspicious occasion of Eid, we remember in our celebrations the oppressed people of Iran and Palestine. We pray that the Almighty eradicates the oppressors and grants victory to the oppressed against exploitative forces.

We solemnly affirm that we shall always stand in support of the oppressed and remain in opposition to tyranny. With this commitment, I and my entire team renew this pledge even in our professional capacity, as we don the black coat and appear before the courts, striving to uphold justice. It remains our constant endeavor to advocate for the oppressed, and to ensure that the underprivileged and marginalized segments of society are granted their rightful due, as this is both our human and Islamic responsibility.

Yours sincerely,
Syed Qasim Shah Kazmi

New law on child marriage in Punjab has been enforced. The minimum age of marriage for a girl has been increased from 16 to 18 years, bringing it at par with that of a boy.

Henceforth, if either the bridegroom or the bride is under 18 years of age, not only the contracting parties but also those solemnizing, facilitating, or arranging the marriage shall be liable to punishment. The penalties have also been enhanced. The offence has been declared non-bailable, and jurisdiction for trial has been vested in the Court of Sessions.

Any person found to have abused a minor boy or girl shall, in all circumstances, be liable to a mandatory sentence of five years’ imprisonment along with a compulsory fine of Rs. 1,000,000. Neither the term of imprisonment nor the amount of fine shall be reduced below the prescribed minimum.
