With profound grief and an abiding sense of loss, the legal fraternity mourns the passing of Mr. Abrar Hasan, Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan—a towering figure in the annals of Pakistan’s legal history, and an emblem of unity, integrity, and jurisprudential excellence.
Mr. Hasan’s distinguished legal career was marked by unwavering dedication to the rule of law, constitutionalism, and the principles of justice. As a former President of the Sindh High Court Bar Association and Principal of Islamia Law College, he rendered invaluable service to the legal profession and to legal education in Pakistan. His mentorship of generations of young lawyers was characterized by profound intellect, principled leadership, and a steadfast commitment to ethical advocacy.
An erudite scholar and prolific author, Mr. Hasan contributed significantly to Pakistan’s legal literature through numerous authoritative publications, thereby enriching the academic and professional foundations of law in the country. His writings remain a vital part of the national legal canon.
Mr. Hasan also played a prominent role in the political life of the subcontinent. His resolute advocacy for democratic ideals and social justice led to personal sacrifices, including imprisonment—borne with characteristic dignity and courage.
In his demise, the city of Karachi and the nation at large have lost a jurist of rare distinction—a man who combined legal acumen with moral clarity, and public service with personal humility. His life was a testament to the enduring values of justice, harmony, and national unity.
