PRESIDENT ORDERS JUSTICE FOR KARACHI TRADER IN LANDMARK CUSTOMS CASE
Major victory for Karachi’s business community!
After a 5-month legal battle, Mr. Siraj Islam, owner of MH Traders, has secured a game-changing ruling from the President of Pakistan, overturning Customs’ refusal to grant tax exemption on imported football materials.
🧾 What Was the Issue?
MH Traders imported artificial leather used in football manufacturing.
Customs denied exemption under SRO 492(I)/2009, calling it “fabric” instead of artificial leather, and further alleged the firm lacked a manufacturing unit.
But the facts—and the law—told a different story.
⚖️ Enter Advocate Hyder Ali — And the Case Took a Turn
Representing MH Traders, Advocate Hyder Ali laid bare the bias and mismanagement:
🔹 Identical material is imported by Sialkot manufacturers — with full exemption.
🔹 Contravention reports were issued only after MH Traders filed a complaint.
🔹 The “sub-judice” excuse used by FTO was rejected by the President as invalid.
🔹 Customs’ conduct was labeled “maladministration” — pure and simple.
✅ What the President Ordered:
Immediate tax exemption under SRO 492(I)/2009
Compensation for delays and wrongful detention
Declared that eligibility depends on actual export — not arbitrary classification by Customs
💬 A Word from Advocate Hyder Ali:
> “Karachi traders deserve the same treatment as Sialkot. You can’t label the same material differently just to deny someone their right. That’s not law—that’s discrimination.”
📌 Why This Ruling Matters:
This victory sets a powerful precedent:
🔸 No more arbitrary classifications
🔸 No more regional bias
🔸 No more red tape stifling SMEs
🚀 The Bottom Line:
Justice isn’t just about courtrooms—it’s about standing your ground when the system fails you.
This ruling proves: with the right legal voice, the truth will be heard.
👏 Hats off to Advocate Hyder Ali for leading this fight with courage and clarity.
A true win for accountability—and for every honest trader in Pakistan.
