LEGAL AID IN ACTION: PSU-CLEP STUDENTS SERVE INAGAWAN COMMUNITY

Students from the Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) of Palawan State University – School of Law actively led a Legal Aid Clinic on November 11, 2025, in Barangay Inagawan, Puerto Princesa City.

The activity, conducted in partnership with the Barangay Officials of Inagawan, offered free legal consultations and notarial services to the community. It forms part of CLEP’s continuing commitment to provide accessible legal services to marginalized sectors while serving as a practical training ground for law student practitioners to apply their legal knowledge and skills.

The event was organized by 4th-year law students Sarah Mae Abdulhamid, Ruth Ang, Aries Austria, Vhic Evan Bardos, Jennylyn Joy Gabuco, and John Carlo Usman, and was attended by their supervising lawyer, Atty. Kyle Dominic Acosta.

Legally Speaking! A Legal Education Series - First Edition

The Law Student Practitioners of Palawan State University - School of Law kicked off the first installment of “Legally Speaking!”, a project dedicated to bringing the law closer to the people, one conversation at a time.

In partnership with Western Philippines University - College of Arts and Sciences, our LSPs presented “CTRL + LAW + DELETE: Stopping Cybercrime and Plagiarism” last October 24 - an engaging and informative session on cyberlibel, online harassment, plagiarism, and the animal welfare.

As part of commitment to public service, they also offered Free Legal Consultation and Notarial Services to WPU faculty, staff, and students.

PLt. Mark Jhosen M. Macaspac, Team Leader of the Palawan Cyber Response Team, delivered an insightful lecture on RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

Atty. Kyle Dominic T. Acosta discussed Plagiarism and Copyright Infringement, a timely topic for communication students.

Engr. Gerard E. Parayno shared an in-depth talk on the RA 8485 (Animal Welfare Code, as amended) emphasizing prohibited acts under the law.

This was made possible through the guidance of CLEP Director Atty. Analissa Navarro-Padon and supervising lawyers Atty. Christine N. Aribon, Atty. Gellian Grace B. Baaco-Padilla, Atty. Lara Mae O. Cacal, Atty. Ysabelle M. Cardona, and Atty. April Joy M. Rabang-Baylosis.
