SOUTHERN BLOCK LAW OPENS CDO CENTRAL OFFICE; CEMENTS PRESENCE IN NORTHERN MINDANAO REGION’S INDUSTRIAL HEARTLAND
Southern Block Law (Bacal Namalata Tamala Pallugna Quimpo Bidad Benitez Bete Escalante) on Saturday, August 15, 2020, formally opened its Central Office along Don Apolinar Velez corner Toribio Chavez St., Cagayan de Oro City.
The event was graced by Misamis Oriental Vice- Governor Hon. Jeremy Jonahmar "Jigjag" G. Pelaez, former Misamis Oriental Vice- Governor Jose Mari "Joey" G. Pelaez and Court of Appeals Associate Justice Hon. Angelene Mary Quimpo- Sale. Resident Lawyers from Southern Block Law’s extension offices in Medina, Misamis Oriental and Tubod, Lanao del Norte, have all returned home to Cagayan de Oro City to celebrate the momentous milestone.
The blessing and opening of the Central Office cements the presence of the firm in Northern Mindanao’s regional center, following the merger of its constituent firms, Bacal Namalata Tamala Bidad Law and Pallugna & Quimpo Law earlier this year. Saturday’s event comes only two weeks after the firm inaugurated its extension office in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
INNOVATION, IMPROVED AND BETTER SERVICES AT THE CORE OF SBL VALUES
In a statement, Senior Partner Atty. Kenneth O. Tamala said that the decision made by the partners to open the Central Office was “motivated by our persistent desire to seek for ways to innovate and improve the delivery of our duty and our work - to better serve - our valued clients and friends.” The then Bacal Namalata Tamala Bidad Law used to maintain its office along Pabayo Street while the former Pallugna & Quimpo Law had its offices at Brgy. Carmen, before transferring to its present location now occupied by the Southern Block Law. The inauguration of the Central Office comes timely with the urgent necessity to keep up with the exponential growth of the firm. The Central Office will now serve as the nucleus of the operations of the Southern Block Law and a conduit for its two extension offices.
FORGING A BRIGHTER PATH UNDER THE “NEW NORMAL”
The inauguration of the Central Office did not come without enduring some hiccups along the way. Previously scheduled in the first quarter of 2020, the opening had to be delayed due to the emergence and rapid spread of the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the archipelago. Resident Lawyers had to find better and efficient ways to deliver client deliverables with the uncertainty of the public health situation in mind. Despite the setbacks, construction eventually resumed which paved the way for the third quarter opening. Senior Partner and Duka Bay Resort President Atty. Gregorio Miguel H. Pallugna expressed his optimism during the event. “This is the beginning of the realization of our long- time dream to introduce a strong, reliable, highly competent, and modern force to the legal, corporate and political scene in Northern Mindanao.” Pallugna said. Alluding to the arduous post- COVID-19 recovery, “the firm, together with its Partners and Associates, will do its part in helping our clients as we navigate the treacherous road towards recovery.” Pallugna added. Although on official leave of absence from the firm, Senior Partner Atty. Noel G. Bacal expressed his gratitude and recognized the immensity of the task ahead. Atty. Bacal underscored the vital role of the firm in lending a helping hand to our clients struggling with the debilitating effects on businesses of the prolonged economic inactivity due to the pandemic.
THANKFUL FOR ALL THE VICTORIES, GEARING UP FOR THE WORK AHEAD
Looking back, the Partners have nothing but profuse thanks to everyone who supported the firm’s endeavors. “We hope that, through this new and improved facility, we can continue to effectively address, solve and attend to our clients' needs, situations and expectations. The firm's endeavor to improve, scale and innovate, however, would not have been possible without the strong support and confidence of our wives, partners, family and close friends. To this, we are ever grateful. From the bottom of our hearts- from all SBL partners, associates and staff - Daghang Salamat!” Tamala said. “We at Southern Block Law are most thankful to all who supported the forging of the firm!” Pallugna added.
“After all this is done, what remains are our solemn commitment to justice, honor and integrity. We shall, as partners for justice, strive to live out the oath that we swore to on the day that we were admitted to the Bar.” Senior Partner Atty. George Philip W. Quimpo said. “Words cannot fully express my gratitude to all who took part in this undertaking. All our sacrifices have now paid off. To all my partners and associates, it’s now time to roll up our sleeves and get working. Huge and daunting tasks lie ahead, but our single-minded unity and purpose shall propel us towards greater heights.” Senior Partner Atty. Jeoffrey D. Namalata added.
