HONEST COP RETURNS MONEY MISTAKENLY SENT TO HIS ACCOUNT

At a time when digital fraud and scams are rampant, a police officer’s unwavering honesty has become a beacon of integrity and public trust. The Philippine National Police (PNP) commends Police Master Sergeant Rey Daniel L. Cablitas of the Southern Leyte Police Provincial Mobile Force Company (SLPPMFC) for his commendable act of honesty in returning ₱27,000 mistakenly sent to his Maya account.

On February 7, 2025, at around 2:00 PM, PMSgt Cablitas received an unexpected money transfer notification. Unaware of who sent the amount, he waited for any clarification. Shortly after, Ms. Regine Pearl Templonuevo, a teacher from Southville IV Elementary School, Santa Rosa City, Laguna, contacted him, explaining that she had accidentally transferred the money to his account.

Without hesitation, PMSgt Cablitas assured the teacher that he would return the full amount. Ms. Templonuevo, grateful for his honesty, attempted to give him ₱1,000 as a token of appreciation, but the police officer refused to accept any reward and instead sent back the entire amount.

PNP Chief, Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, lauded PMSgt Cablitas for his act of integrity, emphasizing that "the strength of the police service lies not just in enforcing the law, but in upholding the highest moral standards. His honesty is a testament to the kind of public servants we strive to be—trustworthy, selfless, and dedicated to the people we serve."

At a time when digital scams and fraud have become commonplace, PMSgt Cablitas' simple yet powerful act of honesty restores faith in law enforcement and inspires fellow police officers to embody the true values of service, honor, and justice.

The PNP salutes PMSg Cablitas for his exemplary conduct, proving that integrity remains the strongest foundation of public trust.
