The Integrated Bar of the Philippines – South Cotabato and General Santos City (IBP SocGen) Chapter actively participated in the 2nd IBP Seminar Training-Workshop on the 2024 Revised Guidelines of the IBP Probe Commission held at The Linden Suites, Ortigas Center, Pasig City on October 27–29, 2025.

Representing the chapter were Atty. RJ Sustiguer (President), Atty. Donna Ann T. Balboa (Vice President), Atty. Howard Faldas (Treasurer), and Atty. Rose Bering (Auditor).

The activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of IBP officers and members in implementing the updated disciplinary procedures and promoting integrity and accountability within the legal profession.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines – SocGen Chapter, in partnership with the Department of Education, successfully conducted a Legal Aid Caravan for the teaching and non-teaching personnel of Banga National High School on October 24, 2025.

The activity aimed to provide free legal education and consultation services to educators and school staff, empowering them with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities under the law.

A series of informative lectures were delivered, including:

-Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) by Atty. Gerard Oliver Wang

-Loan Obligations by Atty. Anthony Dinnes Pantua

Participants also had the opportunity to consult with IBP SocGen Legal Aid Lawyers, who volunteered their time and expertise to assist in legal concerns. Special thanks to Atty. Xavier Palao of SSS and his team for joining the activity and sharing valuable insights on SSS benefits and programs relevant to DepEd employees.

Atty. Arnel B. Bien and Atty. Princess Rosshien L. Hortal from DepEd were also present during the event, expressing their support for this meaningful initiative that promotes legal awareness within the education sector.

This initiative underscores IBP SocGen’s continuing commitment to public service through accessible legal assistance and community outreach.

The Unified Legal Aid Service (ULAS) Interim Board has issued ULAS Board Resolution No. 1, S. 2025, on the amendments to certain sections of Rule 19 of the ULAS Rules Manual on the Grant of MCLE Credits relative to ULAS exclusion.

The Resolution clarifies that lawyers issued Certificates of Exclusion pursuant to the ULAS Rules and Manual are not entitled to 15 MCLE units.

IBP SocGen Brings Legal Aid to Fisherfolk and People’s Organizations in Sarangani

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines – South Cotabato-General Santos City (SocGen) Chapter, under the leadership of IBP Vice President Atty. Donna Ann Balboa, successfully conducted a Legal Aid Activity for the Fisherfolk and People’s Organizations of Alabel, Sarangani Province, on October 17, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 NN.

The event was joined by the IBP SocGen Legal Aid Lawyers, who provided free legal consultations and advice to community members, addressing various legal concerns and promoting access to justice for marginalized sectors.

The activity was held in collaboration with the Tanglaw Diwa Legal Aid Clinic of the Mindanao State University College of Law – General Santos Extension.

Mann and Atty. Ma. Lourdes F. Mann guided the MSU College of Law CLEP students as they rendered free legal consultations to the public.
