The ๐Š๐š๐๐š๐ฒ๐š๐ฐ๐š๐ง ๐…๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐š๐ฅ was originally known as the ๐€๐ฉ๐จ ๐ƒ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐…๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐š๐ฅ, officially launched in 1986 by then-Mayor Zafiro Respicio. It honored three iconic symbols of Davao: Mt. Apo, the Durian fruit, and the Waling-waling orchid.

In 1988, during the administration of Former President and then-Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, it was renamed ๐Š๐š๐๐š๐ฒ๐š๐ฐ๐š๐ง, reflecting a more inclusive celebration of Davaoโ€™s diverse tribes, cultures, and traditions.

From โ€œ๐ฆ๐š๐๐š๐ฒ๐š๐ฐโ€โ€” meaning good, valuable, and worthy of thanksgiving โ€” Kadayawan continues to celebrate the richness and unity of Davao.

They called him my little bro.... aside from being my neighbor, he was a tag along in our early band days, and even in my basketball games.

His family and our family shared a good deal of Davao history.
